Gendai Reikiho Master Certification

The Gendai Reikiho Lineage and Master Certification

This message is intended to clarify the following three points:

1) Participation in my workshop alone will not qualify someone as a Gendai Reikiho Master.

2) Gendai Reikiho is one of the effective practice disciplines of Usui Reiki Ryoho.

3) I have taught nothing but Gendai Reikiho until now, and I will never teach anything else in the future as well.

1.  Since the 1999 Vancouver workshop, I have been invited as a lecturer in several international workshops for Reiki practitioners.  In every workshop I shared what I knew, at that particular point, about the truth of Usui Sensei and some of the Usui Reiki Ryoho philosophy and techniques.  I also introduced some of the philosophy and techniques of Gendai Reikiho, which is one of many practice disciplines of Usui Reiki Ryoho.  I do not see any problem in the materials and information the participants received in the workshops being circulated, provided that the source is clearly indicated.

2.  The Vancouver workshop was not a Gendai Reikiho Master Seminar, and I did not teach Gendai Reikiho nor transmitted Gendai Reikiho energy.  Therefore, even if a participant received information on Gendai Reikiho, the participant is not a certified Gendai Reikiho Master and can not use my lineage.  The same can be said of the URRI workshops and URWN workshops.

3.  The only people who can use my lineage are people who took a Gendai Reikiho Seminar and received a Gendai Reikiho Master certificate.  Those who trained with me become Gendai Reiki Healing Association certified Masters, and they can train Gendai Reikiho Masters themselves.

4.  I do not limit Gendai Reikiho Masters’ activities to only teaching Gendai Reikiho.  There are Reiki Masters who choose to teach the Reiki system they had been practicing before they encountered Gendai Reikiho.  If they want to incorporate some of the Gendai Reikiho philosophy and techniques, I encourage them to do so provided they clearly indicate the source.

However, since Gendai Reikiho energy is transmitted in a comprehensive manner with its philosophy and techniques, I ask my students to make no changes in the manuals and the techniques if they are to teach Gendai Reikiho.  I do not keep my students from making changes, but I ask them to not call what they teach Gendai Reikiho if they do make changes:  This is the basic promise between my students and me.

5.  Masters who teach a different Reiki system can call themselves Gendai Reiki Healing Association certified Masters.  However, in this case, in order not to confuse the students, the Masters should make clear that they are Gendai Reikiho Masters but what they are teaching is not Gendai Reikiho:  I feel that they should be morally held responsible for this point.

When a Reiki Master uses my energy lineage, which is:  Usui - Taketomi - Koyama - Doi, the Master is only indicating his/her Gendai Reikiho lineage, and it is necessary to give the students a clear and accurate explanation on this point.

6.  I would like to make clear that Gendai Reikiho is an effective practice discipline of Usui Reiki Ryoho.  However, being an effective practice discipline does not mean that it is identical to Usui Reiki Ryoho.  Some Masters call Gendai Reikiho “Gendai Reiki-Shiki Usui Reiki Ryoho (Gendai Reiki Way of Usui Reiki Ryoho).”

Gendai Reikiho does include traditional techniques.  However, if a Master simply picks out these techniques and says that I teach both Gendai Reikiho and Usui Reiki Ryoho, this is wrong.  I never taught anything but Gendai Reikiho Seminars, and this will remain the same in the future.

Reiki Masters around the world have a clear understanding that Gendai Reikiho is one of the practice disciplines of Usui Reiki Ryoho, but Usui Reiki Ryoho is not identical to Gendai Reikiho.
