Akiko Okamoto was born in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, and received first piano instruction in the age of four years. In the following years, she perfected her piano play and received several Prizes of youth music competitions.
She began training at Toho Gakuen High School of Music, and went to Toho Gakuen University of Music at 18 years where she graduated in 1998. She studied under Prof. Hiroko Ishikawa, Prof. Chieko Okabayashi and Prof. Masako Nakai.
She perfected her piano play at International Hamamatsu Piano Academy, Holland Music Session and Salzburg Summer Academy where she earned first successes.
The acquisition of First Prize at the International Competition in Padua, Italy forms high point to her career. Further she participated in selected master classes where she was led from Prof. Hiroko Nakamura, Prof. Karl-Heinz Kammerling and Prof. Vassily Lobanov.
Akiko Okamoto concentrated as soloist and chamber musician in Japan, Holland, Austria and Germany. On the other hand, she gave the Anniversary Concert organized by Hiratsuka Luska and Nippon Telegraph and Telephones Corporation (NTT).
Since 2001 she studies the Concert Piano Subject at the University of Mozarteum Salzburg under Prof. Rolf Plagge, in addition chamber music under Prof. Rainer Schmidt. She attained the Austrian Magistertitel in 2005. Since then she completes the Post Graduated Study at the University of Mozarteum Salzburg under Prof. Rolf Plagge.
