    Slayers Premium is the fifth movie of Slayers. Here I introduce the translation of Japanese articles and the storyline of Slayers Premium manga and more.

    Summary of Slayers Premium Plus One is Available!--- QP/Diana (October 7th, 2004, at 16:40 JST)


    After a long interval, I completed to make a summary of the manga Slayers Premium Plus One and posted it with some images from the comic. Please visit here.


    Slayers Premium will be broadcasted in February 2003!--- QP/Diana (January 7th, 2003, at 0:30 JST)


    In Japan, one of the cable TV channels, Kids Station, announces that they will broadcast Slayers Premium in February. This is the first time for the newest Slayers Movie to be broadcasted on TV. They will show Slayers OVAs as well, and on February 11th, we can see all Slayers OVA episodes, Slayers Special and Slayers Excellent, and Slayers Premium for 3 and 3 quaters hours straight. Kids Station is now showing Slayers first season, and they show one episode three times per week.

    The one I bought is an exclusive DVD set. which is packed in an illustrated clear case (top left). When I take out the DVD case from the clear case, I can enjoy another front artwork (top center). The jacket of the DVD case is reversible, and I can see another new illustration by Mr. Araizumi (top right).

    The set also has a drama cd, "Premium CD" (bottom left and center) and a comc book, "Slayers Premium Plus One" (bottom right). The letters on the cd tell us that "if you dared to listen this cd before you read 'the special lecture', I would give you a Dragon Slave!".

    The DVD has whole of the movie plus a few scene which weren't shown at the theater. And there also are the promotional footages.

    The drama cd has two tracks, Prologue of Premium, and Epilogue of Premium, and before the drama, there are special warning from Lina, Gourry, Ameria, and Zelgadiss. They say not to watch the dvd before you listen the track 1, and not to listen the track 2 before you watch the dvd. I'll post the summary of the drama in the near future.

    The comic is the sequel to the Slayers Premium comic, and it is a love story for Luma and the Wise Octopus. I'll post the summary of the comic as well.



    DVD of Slayers Premium will come out!--- QP/Diana (June 14th, 2002)


    In April, VHS of Slayers Premium was released, but they were mainly for rental, not for sale. On July 3rd, there will be Slayers Premium DVD for sale. There will be two types of DVD, one is the ordinary version with a DVD which includes a few minutes of scene unavailable in the movie theater. Another type is the limited production for the first press. This exclusive DVD has the same DVD as the ordinary version, plus a dram CD of "Prologue of Premium" and "Epilogue of Premium", a comic book of "Slayers Premium Plus One" by Tommy Otsuka, special sleeve with two newly drawn illustration by Rui Araizumi, and a special clear case. The price for the ordinary DVD is 3,800yen, and the exclusive DVD is 5,500yen.

    I went to see Slayers Premium!--- QP/Diana (January 27th, 2002 JST)


    I went to see Slayers Premium at the movie theater in Tokyo. They show four movies in one show time, and Slayers Premium was the third one. The storyline was similar to Premium manga, however, there is only a few scenes of Lina's destroying a fishing boat, and Xelloss did nothing at all, although it was suggested that Xelloss was related with the octopuses' plan.

    I bought the booklet of Slayers Premium, and this booklet has the articles of the round-table talk between the voice actors, the interview with Mr. Sato, the director, etc. In the interview of the director, he said that they would make the DVD of Slayers Premium, and they would add a few minutes of scene of Zelgadiss.

    At the movie theater, they gave several gifts to those who came to see the four movies. The gifts are, new promotional card of Slayers Fight CCG, a Christmas card of Sakura Wars, new promotional card of Di Gi Charat CCG, a pin badge of Di Gi Charat, and the bookmarks of Azumanga Daioh. Those gifts were available only in 2001, and in this year, they gave the new year greeting card of each anime to the audience.

    Anime magazines almost revealed the whole story of Slayers Premium! --- QP/Diana (December 12th, 2001, at 18:30 JST)

    On December 10th, January issue of the most selling anime magazines, Animage, Animedia, and New Type, was released. In every magazines, they had articles about Slayers Premium and we could know almost all of the story. Anyway, I don't spoil the story here, instead, I revised the summary of Slayers Premium manga. I also added the summary of the third episode of it.

    What is Slayers?

        This new movie is the fifth movie for Slayers. The original of Slayers is the famous novels series by Mr. Hajime Kanzaka. Slayers iniciated multiple media-mix of a novel series, and got the novel's fans, computer game fans, anime fans, and CCG fans. The story is the main stream in fantasy novels, which takes place in another universe where people live with swords and magic, and the heroes and heroines go to adventure in order to find their own fate.
        For about Slayers canon novels, there are two series. One is the main series, in which Lina and Gourry travel together and confront battles against dark lord Shabranigudo and other Mazoku. Another is Slayers Special series, which consists of short stories and middle-length stories, and in this series two female characters, Lina and Naga, only go wild, causing troubles for other people.

    Characters

    Lina Inverse
        Self-styled "Genius beautiful sorceress". Actually, she is one of the best magic users in the world, however, as she is too powerful, sometimes people calls her "Dragon Spooker".

    Gourry
        He is one of the chanpions of the sword. However, he has too poor memory, and sometimes he is one of the most idiot character in the story. He and Lina are good partners.

    Ameria
        She is a princess of Saillune kingdom, and is a priestess, too. She is Justice maniac, and she regards that it is her duty to knock out the evils. She loves the high places and she often climbs up anywhere.

    Zelgadiss
        He is a chimera of a human, a brow demon and a golem. He cooperates with Lina because their interests are the same. He travels alone in order to find the way to get his human body back.

    Xelloss
        He travels with Lina and her gangs, because he was ordered to do so by Hellmaster Fibrizo. Lina as four talismans that boost her magical power. Actually, he talked her into buying them (?). He often says "It's a secret."
Gourry's (?) : Apparently, this is a mistake. Gourry's family name is Gabriev.
Xelloss' (?) : In fact, Lina talked Xelloss into selling those talismans to her.

    ITOCHU GALLERY presents "SLAYERS ART EXPO 2001 - Exhibition of the Original Illustrations for Slayers by Rui Araizumi - " in Tokyo (15-19/Nov.), Nagoya (23-25/Nov.), Shizuoka (7-9/Dec.), Fukuoka(14-17/Dec), and Osaka (22-24/Dec.). I went to the exhibition in Tokyo, and enjoyed watching beautiful original illustrations for the Slayers novels and for magazines by Mr. Araizumi. They also sell exclusive prints of five illustrations (three B2 sized illustrations, and two B3 sized illutrations). One print of a bigger illustration is 250,000yen (about 2,000US$), and one of a smaller illutration is 150,000 (about 1,200US$). I can't afford to buy even the smaller one, and instead, I got three copies of Mr. Araizumi's illutrations.

    Slayers Premium manga is ongoing in the monthly Dragon Jr. magazine.--- QP/Diana (November 6th, 2001, at 04:35 JST)

    Since the end of September, Slayers Premium manga by Tommy Otsuka has come out in a comic magazine, Dragon Jr. I don't know how the story is faithful to the original scinario for the motion picture. Anyway, I made a summary of this manga with several images of characters. Please look at this.


    Voice actors are the same as TV anime!--- QP/Diana (September 9th, 2001, at 00:15 JST)

    According to the article in the October issue of Animedia, the voice actors for Slayers Premium are the same as Slayers TV anime. I haven't read the article yet, however, they say that there are messages from each voice actors and actresses.


    It is announced that Slayers Premium manga will come out in the last week of September 2001.--- QP/Diana (September 2nd, 2001, at 08:55 JST)

    According to the advertizement in the October issue of the comic magazine, monthly Dragon Jr., Slayers Premium manga will start in the November issue of Dragon Jr. The illustrator will be Tommy Otsuka, who draws the Slayers Special manga in that magazine. The November issue will come out on September 27.


    From the last week of July to August 9, September issue of every monthly anime magazine came out, and we can see more illisturations or the character design for Slayers Premium. --- QP/Diana (August 14th, 2001, at 21:35 JST)

    On July 27, the September issue of monthly Dragon Magazine came out, and there is a bigger illustration for the telephone card of Slayers Premium. When I looked it closely, I found that the design of Zelgadiss is based on the illutrations for the canon novels, not on the character design for TV anime. His impression wasn't different, but in his face, there is an obvious difference --- his left eye. Do you know that in the illustrations for the canon novels, Zel had something like a tiny bridge between his upper and lower eyelid? In that illustration, Zel has it!

    On August 9, Japanese anime magazine, Newtype's September issue came out with the character designs for Slayers Premium. There, Lina has her four talismans, and Gourry has his Sword of Light. Thus, the story of Slayers Premium takes place between the end of NEXT and the beginning of TRY.


    Photon gave me an e-mail, explaning more detailed information on the graphics of Slayers Premium's promotional film.---QP/Diana (July 30th, 2001 at 22:30 JST)

    The face of each characters are same as those on the illustration for the ticket. For about Xelloss, Photon said, "Actually, that character was Xelloss, however, his face was drawn by four lines. Two lines for two eyes, and two lines for his lips. There was no line for his nose in the pictures in the promotional film. I just couldn't believe that Xelloss was given such poor looks!"


    On July 21st and 22nd, Tokyo Character Show 2001 was held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture. There were plenty of companies' booths to show their productions, and Kadokawashoten promoted Slayers Premium with their other productions such as Full Metal Panic and SAMURAI GIRL - Real Bout High School.---QP/Diana (July 25th, 2001 at 12:25 JST)

    They sold an exclusive poster of Slayers Premium at Tokyo Character Show 2001. The image of the design is available here.
    The picture of the poster and the telephone card are in the second row. This poster was exclusively sold at Tokyo Character Show. From August 18th, they will sell tickets in advance with a poster, however, the illustration will be changed.

    Photon posted a report about the promotional film of Slayer Premium. The film had no voices or sounds, and was shown in the interval of talk show at Kadokawa's booth. Here is the translation of his report.
    1. Lina and Gourry enjoyed their meals.
    2. A character similar to Xelloss talked with someone.
    3. A girl shouted out with a serious look.
    4. Lina, Gourry, Zel and Ameria, listened to a man talking about something at a table. The girl who had shouted sat at the same table, listening to the man as well.
    5. A shot of an octopus trap. (This will be the point of the story.)
    6. Two octopuses were in a building looked like a church for an evil god.
    7. Lina and gangs fought against a huge octopus. (Zel did a somersault backward, dodging the attack from the enemy, Ameria was caught by tentacles, Gourry attacked the enemy, and Lina cast a Dragon Slave.)
Photon's notes.
    a) The design for the characters is somewhat different from those of TV anime. New designs are similar to the illustrations for the canon novels after 2000.
    b) There was a chracter similar to Xelloss, but, I'm not sure for his face was too different from Xelloss in TV anime. His face was drawn with 4 lines only!
    c) Octopuses were actually octopuses. I couldn't imagine a creature that has no human factors talks in a human tongue. As far as I know, any characters in the canon novels or in TV anime, only creatures that have a bit of human factor could talk in human tongues. If those octopuses actually has no human factor, talking in a human tongue, this is the first case in Slayers!
    d) I couldn't see if Lina had Demon Blood talismans or not. I didn't check whether Gourry had the Sword of Light, either.
    e) In the scene of Lina's casting a Dragon Slave, they used CD effect in order to show a ball of fire... However, Dragon Slave in the canon novels doesn't create a ball of fire!

    "Slayers" is the novels series written by Hajime Kanzaka, and it is one of the popular series of monthly Dragon Magazine and Fujimi Fnatasia Bunko. As you already knew, there were many TV anime and motion pictures of Slayers, and finally, we will have new Slayers movie this winter!

    The story of this new movie will be newly written one, which will be supervised by Mr. Kanazaka. In the story, Gourry, Zelgadiss, and Ameria, who appeared only in the Slayers novel series and in TV anime, will appear, and it is the first time for them to show themselve in the screen!

    "Slayers Premium" will be directed by Junichi Satoh, who directed "Gate Keepers" and "Ojamajo Doremi", etc., and the movie will be shown December 2001, along with "Sakura Taisen, Katsudou Shashin (= motion picture)".

* STORY of Slayers Premium *

    Lina and Gourry came to a town by the sea. In the town, there was a mysterious happening --- if a man ate an octopus, he became unable to talk except in octopus' tongue. Gourry, who didn't know about the happening, ate sashimi of octopus and began to speak in the octopus' tongue.

    Zelgadiss and Ameria, who happened to came to the town, were involved in the happening, and at last, the battle between humans and octopus clan living by the sea began!
