On their way, they found that a young girl being chased by two men in black (namely, Zain and his boss) while passing through a village. That fight was interrupted by a man and a woman, the treasure hunters Luke and Milina. Luke told the girl, Sherra, that he and Milina would guard her. Thinking that Luke wanted something that Sherra had, Lina wanted to go with her. But, next morning, Sherra left the village alone.

    Lina learned about about Sherra. Her father, Glen, had once gone to Bezerdo and had seen a mysterious sword in a cavern there. Sherra wasn't born in the village, and people thought that Glen had his daughter in Bezerdo. Lina made up her mind to go there.

    On their way, the two encountered another man in black. He summoned up a brass demon, which Lina killed, and then killed himself. Lina knew that there had to be something in Bezerdo; otherwise, why would they have been attacked? When they arrive at a village, they ran into many brass demons and lesser demons. Lina and Gourry fought together with Luke and Milina to get rid of the demons.

    Milina told Lina that she and Luke had heard that many demons appeared in Bezerdo, and that rumor said that the demons had something to do with the sword. The two treasure hunters were interested in the sword, thinking that they could sell it for a good price if they obtained it.

    Two days later, Lina caught up with Sherra in a town, but they were soon attacked by yet more men in black, including Zain and his boss. When Gourry, Luke and Milina arrived, both sides were attacked by many lesser demons and brass demons. During the fight, Lina found that Luke had a magical sword. Afterwards, she asked him to sell it to her, but he refused.

    Sherra said that her father told that the sword in Bezerdo could make the demons, and she was anxious that those demons might have been created by the sword. Luke proposed that his team work together with Lina's to stop the source of the demons.

    When they arrive at Bezerdo, Sherra went out alone and was promptly caught by Zain, even though Lina had been tailing her. Lina and the others searched around and found some of the men in black in an abandoned house, but Sherra wasn't with them. Lina thought that Zain and his boss had taken her to the cavern that held the sword.

    Lina, Gourry, Luke and Milina went to the hill that stood to the north of Bezerdo, and there they learned the truth. Yes, there was a sword, and yes, the sword could creat demons... but, to their surprise, Sherra ordered the sword to make the man (another of the men in black) who was trying to pull it from the ground into a demon. Soon, Zain's boss Galva became a large and powerful demon, which ran down the hill and attacked Bezerdo. Lina tried to kill the demon with the Ragna Blade, but the demon was too tough to die. Luke used another black magic spell, Ruby Eye Blade, which creates a blade of red light, and together Lina and Luke were able to kill the demon.
