Lina, Gourry, Zelgadiss and Amelia were chasing Pocota in the forest. Pocota hid himself behind the trees and Amelia realized that they were in a fog. Then, Xelloss appeared catching Pocota in his hand. Lina asked why he was there, but Xelloss gave his usual reply, "it's secret". And he added, "you'd better to look around carefully." They found out that they were in a city surrounded by the forest and the fog. Walking through the street, Gourry said, "is this an abandoned city?" Pocota denied, "this city isn't abandoned! This is my homeland!"
Pocota said to Xelloss to leave him free because Xelloss kept catching Pocota in his hand. Lina explained Pocota about Xelloss. "He is in a high place in a royal family (*2). He is the Priest. You'd better not to fight against him. He is too powerful for you and us." |  |
 | It's Lina's turn to ask a qeustion to Pocota. She asked the explanation about this mysterious city, and Pocota began to talk. "This land is 'Taforasia' and was built by our ancestors who had come from Sairaag, the City of Magic about one hundred years ealier. Xelloss interrupted, "there is another story about Taforusia. It's the city which disappeared suddenly within one night. At that time, the epidemic of duram was sweeping Taforusia. There was no cure for the sick, and any of neighbor land helped the city..."
When they came to a closed door, Pocota opened the lock and they entered a hall. "Nobody helped the city, except one sorcerer. He gave us a way to survive..."

In the hall, there were hundreds of citizen sleeping in the crystals. Pocota said, "they are just sleeping. The sorcerer let all of the city sleep until the time when the cure would be found. He also sealed the city with the fog which covers this place." Then, Zelgadiss said, "the cure for the duram was found several years ago." Pocota said, "I know that, but there is another problem. We don't know where the sorcerer is and we can't break the seal. The name of the sorcerer is... Rezo the Red Priest."
Lina, Gourry and Zelgadiss knew that Rezo the Red Priest had been dead for years, but according to Pocota, the seal would be broken automatically when Rezo was dead. Pocota let them out of the hall and sealed the door again, while Lina and others talked over Rezo. Lina asked Xelloss if he knew something. Xelloss said "I'm not related with this city, and now I'm leaving for my own business" and he disappeared.

Just when Pocota came back to Lina and others, the sound of explosion came from another place in the city. When they came to the place, Pocota found that the seal of the king's house was broken. They entered the hall of the king, and they were welcomed by a beastman Ducris. Ducris said, "so you come here as I expected, the prince Pocel Colba Taforusia." It was this beastman who robbed the magical tank from the city. He intorduced the person who had bought the tank at a good price. It was a noble lady with a maid. The noble lady said, "I am Gioconda, the marquis in Rubinagarudo kingdom." And the maid introduced herself as Ozeru.
Lina interrupted, "finally, I understand. That magical tanks were made in this city and the marquis and her men stole them." Marquis Gioconda said, "are you Lina Inverse?" Lina answered, "yes, I am. But I'm not guilty for the destruction of the magical tanks." The femal marquis was irritated, "even when you didn't destroy the tank, there is a rumor that you destroy one. It's same that you lower the value of the weapon."

Suddenly Pocota cast an offensive spell at Gioconda, but Ducris stood before her and protected her from the spell. Then Pocota cast a rethal spell which was dangerous to cast in a building. Lina, Gourry, Zelgadiss and Amelia fled from the king's hall just in time. Lina complained Pocota for using such a dangerous spell in a narrow place. But soon Lina found that Ducris came out of the smoke unharmed. Pocota muttered, "he must put on a Zenafa armor..." Lina came to know that Ducris' armor had a power to protect the owner from any offensive spells perfectly. Pocota said, "Ducris! Did you give up our city because of the armor?" Ducris replied, "I don't give up my city!" and he shot a laser beam. Pocota took out the Sword of Light but Ducris dodged Pocota's blow. Watching that Pocota had the Sword of Light, marquis Gioconda held a heavy long sword in her hand. "Only the Sword of Light can damage Zenafa armor. I don't want the Zenafa to fall in value." Ducris stopped her and declaired that he would kill all of the enemies, but Lina insisted that it would be difficult for him. Still she was wondering which spell could damage Zenafa armor.
But before she found an answer, they realized that there was a crack in Ducris' armor. Pocota's blow with the Sword of Light had hit it a little. Pocota tried to attack Ducris again, but Xelloss caught and threw him away. Xelloss said to Lina, "this time, I'm in the side of marquis Gioconda." The marquis gave an order Xelloss to kill Lina and others, but Xelloss said, "although I'm on your side, but you are not in the place to give an order to me." And he brought the marquis and her underlings away from Taforusia. Lina made up her mind to go to Ruvinagarudo kingdom.

Later, Lina, Gourry, Zelgadiss, Amalia and Pocota were on the way to Ruvinagarudo kingdom. Pocota was on Lina's head and she wondered how to go to the marquis' place. Even when they would go to the kingdom, it would be difficult to arrive the marquis' land. At that time, a carriage stopped before them. It was the carriage of Wizer Freion, and Xelloss sat on the roof of it. He said, "I'm staying in Ruvinagarudo kingdom. It's natural for me to help the inspector to arrest the wanted person." Wizer Freion and Xelloss liked each other and they seemed to be happy together. Pocota resisted, but Xelloss was going to show his power to stop them. Zelgadiss said, "it's impossible for us to fight against Xelloss! What will we do, Lina?" Lina thought, "you said that you are from Ruvinagarudo kingdom, Wizer..." Then she began to chant a spell. "It's not my style to surrender myself!"
In the castle of marquis Gioconda, the marquis, Ozezru and Ducris talked over the happening on the day. Gioconda said, "I won't let them survive when they will on my way again. I expect your good job, assassin Zooma..." |  |
