Dôjôchô's Personal History
In 1943, Endô Seishirô was born in Shimohirao, Saku-shi, Nagano prefecture. He graduated from Nozawa-kita High School, then Gakushûin University, Tokyo. While in the university, he captained the Gakushûin Univ. Aikidô Club.
From 1967, he studied Aikidô at Aikidô Hombu Dôjô, Aikikai Foundation under Ueshiba Morihei, the founder of Aikidô, as one of the last apprentice students of the grand master. Inspired by his master, he has endeavored to introduce Aikidô not only in Japan but the world over. To date he visited numerous dôjôs not only in Japan as well as dôjôs in more than 30 other countries.
Endô Seishirô Shihan, now an eighth dan shihan of Hombu Dôjô, Aikikai Foundation, conducts Aikidô Saku Dôjô and Rikuyôkai, a Sunday Aikidô class at Gakushuin University as well. He is also a part-time lecturer at Tokai University, Kanagawa. He teaches Aikidô classes at various companies, universities, and local clubs throughout Japan; Overseas seminars are held every year, for example, in France, Sweden, Finland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Austria, Holland and Spain.
In 1993 Endô Sensei constructed Aikidô Saku Dôjô in his home town.
In 2001, he was awarded eighth dan.
