Transportation to Saku
|
- By train - Nagano Shinkansen
From Tôkyô station to Sakudaira station, you can take the Nagano Shinkansen, Asama super express, 70-90 minutes, 6,370 yen. From Saku-daira station, it takes 10 minutes to Saku Dôjô by taxi.
- By bus - Seibu-bus/Chikuma-bus
A bus from Ikebukuro, Tôkyô is another way to Saku. Though it takes 3 1/2 hours and only goes a few times a day, it costs only 3,210 yen single and 5,780 yen for round trip. Reservations are needed.
- By car - By Jô-Shin-Etsu Expressway
Saku interchange is the nearest exit for Saku Dôjô. Heading left after the exit, go straight through the intersection "Saku I.C.-higashi," then you enter a road along the expressway. Following the road about 1 km in the direction to Karuizawa, and up a winding uphill, you come across to the second intersection. Go through it and turn right at the next intersection, "Kamihirao-minami." Within a minute, you can see a sign "Aikidô Saku Dôjô" on the left.
From Tôkyô, take Kan-Etsu expressway from Nerima I.C. After passing Kamisato P.A., change to Jô-shin-etsu expressway at Fujioka junction. You will go through ten tunnels to Sakudaira P.A. Saku I.C. is only a few minutes from Sakudaira P.A. From Tôkyô it is about 150 km and takes not more than two hours.
In order to avoid being caught in traffic jams during vacation seasons along the Jô-shin-etsu Expressway, you can take a shortcut from Shimonita I.C. to Saku along the route 254. See a roadmap for details.
- For visitors from overseas - From Narita Airport to Tôkyô city area
Keisei Skyliner express departs from Narita Airport every 40-60 minutes and takes about 80 minutes to Keisei-Ueno station. The fare is 1,920 yen. Airport limousines for the areas of Ginza, Kudan, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro take 70-100 minutes and cost 2,700-2,900 yen.
