Kobe 神戸
Kobe, one of the most famous and important port of Japan, locates 30 kilometers (19 miles) west from Osaka. The city has a lot of points for sightseeing; for example, Ijinkan (residents of foreign people build in Meiji/Taisho Era, i.e., from the end of 19th century to early 20th century), Kobe-bay area, Arima spa, and Mt. Rokko.
Please remember that an earthquake hit this city in January 1995 and killed about 5000 people, and you can still see spaces with no building among the city. However, such an earthquake is quite rare in this area, and visitors from Japan and foreighn countries can enjoy sightseeing safely again.
If you enter Japan from Kansai International Airport, you can use the airpot bus to go to Kobe. Another way to visit Kobe from Kansai Airport is to use high-speed craft, by which it will take less than half an hour. If you plan to visit Kobe from Tokyo, you can use Shinkansen and get off at Shin-Kobe Station, which is 1.5-2 kilometers far from the center of Kobe.
