◇◇◇◇◇◇ＭＬＢ７つのUNWRITTEN RULES 〜最終回〜◇◇◇◇◇◇
"ＭＬＢ７つのUNWRITTEN RULES"と題して、公式ルールブックには掲載さ
れていないメジャーリーグではタブーとされている、いわゆる"暗黙のル
ール"(UNWRITTEN RULES)を７回にわたって掲載してきました。今回は
その最終回をお送りします。
◆Never swing at a 3-0 pitch when your team
has a big lead late
in the game.
◇味方が大量リードしている試合の後半で、ボールカウント０ストライク
３ボールからの投球を打つべからず。
○UNWRITTEN RULE その１で紹介した『味方が圧倒的にリードしている
試合の終盤で盗塁をするべからず』と同様、kicking an opponent when
its down（ダウンしている相手に蹴りを入れるような）行為と考えられ
ているらしいです。
○このUNWRITTEN RULEにも有名なエピソードがいくつかあります。
Milwaukee BrewersのB.J. Surhoff外野手（現在はOrioles）がルーキー
だった1987年シーズンのことです。Brewersの大量リードで迎えた試合
の終盤、Surhoffは Nolan Ryan投手のノースリーからの投球をフルス
ウィングして空振り。次にどんな投球をRyanが投げるのかわかっている
両チームのベンチでは「おい、次の投球は見モノだぞ」と言いながら、
Ryanの投じた胸元の直球を必死によけるルーキーのSurhoff選手を見なが
ら笑っていたとか。
○新庄選手（当時Mets）もこのルールの"被害者"になりました。
Marlins戦のことです。試合は８回、Metsが８点のリード。ノースリーか
らの投球を見事に打ち返した新庄選手は次の日、MarlinsのBrad Penny
投手からもろにデッドボールをくらいました。
