After spraying five hits in Anaheim last night,
Ichiro has 11 games to get the 15 more he needs to
break George Sisler's 84-year-old mark. Tonight,
the Angels -- 2 2/1 out in the AL West -- start Bartolo
Colon, against whom Ichiro is batting .375.

[解説]
まず"Slap happy"の部分ですが、"slap hitter"(*下記参照)として
知られるIchiro は、今夜の先発が.375と比較的相性の良いBartolo
Colonが先発なのでhappyなのです。
*a slap hitter：
A hitter who specializes in slap hits*.
（slap hit*を打つのが得意な打者）
*a slap hit：
A base hit in which the ball is characteristically
placed between, or just over the heads of, the infielders
with a quick jab of the bat rather than with a full swing.

（フルスウィングをせず、ジャブのような素早いバットコントロール
で内野手の間を抜く、または内野手の頭上を越えるようなヒット）
なお、"slap happy"は他にも「パンチなどを受けてフラフラになって
いる状態」という意味もあります。おそらく頭に死球を受けながらも
記録を追い続けるIchiroを、slap happy として上記の意味と引っ掛け
たのでしょう。
また"itching to 〜：〜（動詞が入ります）したくてウズウズする"
が使われているのはICHIroとのゴロ合わせです。
