　　　その試合でもっとも注目を集めるに値するもの／その試合のヒーロー

　[例文]

　（しかし今日のヒーローはjohnsonだろう。そしてYankeesが願っている

　2. to pitch solid 〜 innings：（投手が主語で）安定したピッチング

　のマウンドに送る。ヘッドラインに使われている[lowdown]は、
　Give me the lowdown.（真相を教えてくれ）の表現でよく使われる
　単語で、[物事の真相]という意味です。
　直訳：真相？ Dodgersは３タテ狙いということだ

　■Giants streak ends, but a new one's Brewing

　６連勝中だったGiantsは、D-Backsに逆転負けを喫し、連勝がストップ。
　一方で同じ日にCubsを下し５連勝とした好調のMilwaukee Brewersが、
　連勝街道の主役に躍り出た。[be brewing]で[何かが起ころうとしている]
　の意味でBrewersに引っ掛けています。

　■Streakless in Seattle: Mariners stop Yankees

　SeattleでのMariners戦に敗れ、winning streak（連勝)が１０で
　ストップしたYankees。1993年の映画「Sleepless in Seattle 」の
　sleep をstreakに引っ掛けてます。

　■Rays the roof: 10-run first at the Trop
　(05/25/2005)
　to raise the roof は「大騒ぎをする、ばか騒ぎをする、騒ぎを起こす」
　などの意味で、初回に１０点を取ったDevil Raysに引っ掛けてこの
　イディオムが使われています。at the top （イニングの表）が at the
　Trop になってるのに気づきましたか？ Tropはフランス語で"too much"
　の意味で、１イニングに１０点の大量得点はtoo muchだということを
　含んでいるのだと思います。
