There will be a two-class introductory course to Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain at Asahi Culture Center in Shinjuku for those who are curious but can't manage to take the full 5-day workshop just yet. They will be from 10 AM to 1:30 PM on January 24th and February 28th. Please call Asahi Culture Center to register. Their phone number is (03) 3344-1947. (11,200yen - for two days).
朝日カルチャーセンター（新宿）にて、2日間で学ぶコースが開催されます。（1月24日および2月28日）。費用は￥11,200です。ご予約は、朝日カルチャーセンター(03) 3344-1947へ。
The next color workshop will be in both English and Japanese on March 20, 21, 22, 27, & 28th. It is 40 hours and costs 85,000 yen, materials included. It is limited to 10 participants who have completed the basic 5-day drawing course. You can see the results of the last color workshop in the Gallery section. Up-coming advanced courses include a series of one-day workshops on design and abstraction, perspective, drawing the full figure, and more. Call (03) 3705-7565 during business hours for the schedule.
次回のカラー・ワークショップは、英語と日本語で行われます。3月20日、21日、22日、27日そして28日の５日間コースです。「脳の右側で描け」の５日間ワークショップ修了者を対象にしたもので、１０名までのクラスです。費用85,000-。

カラー・ワークショップのことを聞きましたが、英語のみということなので、参加できずに残念でした。日本語でのワークショップは、行われるのでしょうか？ K

The first color workshop (Nov. 21, 22. 23 & 28, 29th) ended with cheers of joy as the students and visitors admired their new masterpieces. None of the students had painted anything since they were children...a rather long time ago. At the beginning of the workshop, no one even knew what the complementary colors were, but at the end, they could say, along with Matisse, who replied when asked by Gertrude Stein whether he looked at a tomato the way an artist would, even while eating it, "No, when I eat a tomato I look at it the way anyone else would. But when I paint a tomato, then I see it differently." Can you see the blue in a persimmon, or the orange in navy blue?

15th Nov. '98
The 5-day workshop is over (Nov. 1, 2. 3 & 7, 8th). You can see our Gallery 3 and you can see what had been happening. Ten adults participated, as well as the 8-year old daughter of one of the students. One of the students is a psychotherapist. She said "I think the workshop is very useful for a person's healing process. I can really enjoy the "Right Brain World" and, also, grasp the feeling of "mindfulness" in the psychotherapeutic stage of consciousness. The issue from now on will be how to use these experiences and the method in my job!" Three of the students came from the Kansai area and the rest from the Tokyo and Yokohama area. Everyone made very good progress in their drawings, although several students went through various types of panic, which is typical in every workshop.
Today we had the model drawing day. Next Saturday (21st Nov.)the color workshop begins so I am very busy preparing for that. November is a very hectic month!
11月のワークショップが終了しました。近日中に、様子をご紹介するＧａｌｌｅｒｙ ３ がオープンします。今回の参加者は、８歳の女の子の他、大人１０名でした。
受講者の一人は、心理療法士の方ですが、このワークショップはヒーリングに役立つというコメントをしています。参加者のうち３名は関西から。他の方は、東京と横浜の方でした。ワークショップを行うと、毎回のごとく、パニックにおちいる受講生がでてきますが (^_^) 、参加者皆さんが、目覚しい進歩をされました。
今日（１１月１５日）、モデルを使ってのドローイング・ディがありました。１１月２１日には、カラーワークショップが始まりますので、現在 その準備中。今月は、ちょっと忙しい月になってます。クリスティン

Looked at your web page again. It is nice, I am sure, but, again, it is hard to judge since I do not have the Japanese system, and more than half of the characters are garbage. Have you ever considered making a separate version in PURE ENGLISH?? I know that most of your customers are Japanese and that the mixture of Japanese and English looks nice and fits in, but for people who do not have a Japanese system it looks rather confusing. Why not have a very clear and obvious button at the top of the page that says "English," upon clicking you are whisked off to a page with pure English and every character has meaning. Sorry to be a critic. F.That's good advice. No sooner said than done! Please take a look at the English only page by clicking on "ENGLISH" in the middle of the first page. We are still improving it and will expand it for English readers. I hope you enjoy it! Kristin

I was very surprised at getting to know that two drawings in Gallery 2 were drawn by students of the same class as mine. I remember both of them very well. Especially, Ms. Ebata's drawing was shocking. I thought ' she did it ! '. It was amazing. Yasuyuki Aki Ueda

Here's more news from "Ellen's Art Corner". Firstly, there is a wonderful exhibition of African art at the Tobu Museum in Ikebukuro until Nov. 24th. It's closed on Wednesdays. The museum has a homepage for more information: http://www.tobu.co.jp/art/ . Then, 2 Panamanian artists are having an exhibition at Gallery 3, Shinjuku Park Tower in Shinjuku until Sunday, Oct 11. Ms. Tarui is a medical librarian, and Ms. Ebata is a language teacher. These drawings are from some of the follow up monthly one-day workshops. They've both been attending for about a year and a half now. Kristin

I saw your Homepage. It looks good, with subtle design. Many photos made your page heavy, and it takes a long time to download. Did you register it with some of the Search Engines, like Infoseek and YAHOO? I hope many people will visit yours. I, Tokyo気に入ってもらい嬉しいです。画像が多いので、どうしてもダウンロードに時間がかかってしまいます。画質は落ちるかもしれませんが、もう少し軽くしてみようと考えています。このホームページは毎週更新の予定ですので、なにか新しいものがいつもあります。サーチエンジンには少しづつですが、登録しています。もしよく使うサーチエンジンにこのホームページを推薦していただければ、大変 助かります。
I'm glad you like it! Since we would like to show a lot of images, it may take time to download. However, to make it lighter, we will try making the images smaller even though we'll probably lose some details. This homepage will be changed every week or so, so you can always see new things. We are registering it with the Search Engines but it takes a lot of time. If those of you who see this site recommend it to your local Search Engines, it will make it easier for more people to access this homepage. Kristin
