This is a Windows-based free forum, provided by the Tokyo Cross-Cultural Study Group, where you test the validity of the opinions and theories on human life and society by using a set of real data stored in this system, a test by using the method developed in cultural anthropology. Here are data of some hundred of items on some hundred of societies sampled from all over the world. You pick up a pair of items which seem to be related to the theory in question. The computer will then analyze the correlation, the relationship, between the two items of data and show the results in tables and numbers. Or, you may add your own data here on the new items you are concerned with and run the same test. Thus, here you can run tasks:
The test here consists of two channels of Cross-Ethnic Test and Cross-National Test. In Cross-Ethnic Test you count the number of ethnic societies such as the Apache, the Navajo, the Hottentots and the like that anthropologists have studied with. Here are stored the data of the present total of 124 variables on the total of 186 such societies.
Cross-National Test, on the other hand, is a test to compare nations with data published through international organizations such as OECD and CIA World Factbook . This is yet a test run at the present moment, consisting of only ten variables such as suicide ratio of male and female of a total of 225 countries and areas.
We look forward to you inputting new data of your own, Task 2, here and sending them to us. As many data on new variables the users add here, so much the site will be widened and convenient to use. The more so it gets, the more people will use this to a growth of a snowball.
Now, let's try this test. If you are an adept in this kind of test, please click the icon of Cross-Ethnic Test or Cross-National Test below. Then, you will see Table of Variables there. Click it and confirm the numbers of the two variables to test, and go on to Test Execution.
But if you are not used to this kind of practice, may we suggest you to click Cross-Cultural Study and so on below to get an idea of what is all about it before going to the test itself ? And let us talk about this kind of tests. Please, click the Message Board and express what you have in your mind freely there.
