THE KING CLINIC
OMOTESANDO
THE KING CLINIC has been serving the international community including the diplomats and expatriates for more than half a century. Dr. Leo King, being brought up in the most complex and international part of Tokyo gives him the greatest advantages to practice his international and multi-cultural service.
Dr. King's bedside manners and humanity are highly appreciated by the majority of the people in the “gaijin” community. If you are interested in finding a doctor that you can establish a good relationship rather than a heartless one, we recommend you reading our texts in this website.
(Japanese National Health Insurances are accepted at THE KING CLINIC. However, patients are advised to understand and agree to follow its regulations, restrictions and the quality of care that can be catered by it. People that demand a higher level of attention and accessibility are recommended to opt for the non-NHI service at THE KING CLINIC.)

PHILOSOPHY & VALUES
“Cure thy suffering human patient,
not only the pathology of him.”
- Sir Kanehiro Takaki, MD (1849-1920)
At THE KING CLINIC, patients are part of the care-giving team. We are here to help our patients manage their medical care, by assessing, providing information, our treatments, interventions, and opinions in a professional approach with care. The physician and nurse believe in the medical service to be an individualized-and-professional attention, providing the most honest and accurate information, to the extent of our knowledge. Because you are part of the team, we also encourage and welcome our patients sharing their readings, research, ideas, demands, concerns and intention, so that we may discuss with you.
THE KING CLINIC has been serving the international community for more than half a century, committed to improving the health of the patients we serve with love and care. Dr. King senior has been keeping up his great dedication to the community until the very last moment of his life. Now his son has taken over the clinic and patients, where we also welcome new patients. We are always looking forward to having a long relationship with our patients, and we have been doing so. This is very important in many ways:
1.Familiarity with your condition is most valuable,
2.Establishing a patient-physician relationship that is centered on trust and sharing the feeling cannot be achieved in a short relationship, and
3.If you are leaving the country for good, we are able to summarize your medical information in the most efficient way.
These values are not easily understood in depth without the long and stable experiences we have at THE KING CLINIC. As we inherit the spirit and history from Dr. King senior and while many beliefs and evidence shift with time, we trust that some never go out of style. We strongly believe that the humanitarian part of the medical art is eternal and essential factor to the care-giving process.
The quotation introduced earlier in this section was by the founder of Jikei University School of Medicine, who studied at St. Thomas Hospital in London. His maxim is also practiced at THE KING CLINIC. Some patients may be able notice this at the moment they leave Dr. King's door. This cannot be achieved by just treating the physical and pathological aspect of the patient's illness. All patients have their own individual life, values, compliance, limits, and concerns.
History and the inherited spirit are something that make us very special, and may change your medical experience in Japan.
VISION
To be distinguished amongst the community as the most reliable, caring and humanitarian medical provider.
To avoid transforming merely into a systematic and cold-hearted medical entity.
To establish, support, or be part of a medical environment, comfortable for the gaijin residents and travellers in Japan.
STRIVING FOR BETTER SERVICES
The utmost changes in the modern world is the specializing of each medical field, daily updates in medical / diagnostic technologies, and the overflowing information, especially in this city. Where specialists, cutting-edge technologies and skills are available in the major hospitals, we believe that a practice like ours is to serve the community in providing primary and general cares, then when in need, referring to the authority for the specialized level of treatment. Thus, we shall stay in our position as a primary care provider and general service, liaising to introduce our patients to the other side of the cultural and procedural barrier, when needing referrals.
The Japanese medical system (insurance system) is coming to a pivot point in this country, and to us in different ways. The restrictions set by the National Health Insurance (NHI) system limits our passion to serve the international community in the Western manner. However, we shall strive this situation to continue our service to the community, since more non-Japanese patients and firms hold the NHI, not being able to utilize them in many medical providers because of the language/cultural barriers. ...and as mentioned earlier, it is most important for us to establish a long relationship with our patients.
