Raoul Ernest Joseph Dufy was born at 46, rue des Pincettes in Le Havre at seven in the morning on June 3, 1877. He was the second child of Léon Marius Dufy (1845 - 1925) and Marie-Eugénie Ida, née Lemmonier (1850 - ?).
Raoul's father, Léon Marius Dufy, was an accountant for a small metals firm called Rispal in Le Havre. On holidays he conducted a choir and played the organ at the Saint Joseph church. He was a founder of the choir called La Lyre Havraise, too.
Marie-Eugénie Ida Lemmonier, who came from Honfleur, bore eleven children. She had pigeons in the backyard which appeared in her son's paintings later.
