I was surfing and came across your site,(sorry I cant write in Japanese),I
just thought I'd drop you a line or two as I currently own a Japanese
spec,GB500TT,what a great little bike it is,I live in Dunedin,New
Zealand. And I can tell you that having been riding in the U.K. most of my
life this is one of,if not the best place to ride in the world.
Enough of my ranting about N.Z.,my bikes an '87 model that has been,
seemingly, well looked after with @48,000km's on the clock.I'm in the process
of having it resrayed(tank & sidepanels)gloss black, and have got original
HondaWing & TT flag decals, specially made by a local signwriting firm,in
silver.Other accessories include a Ventura(N.Z.) Luggage rack and am waiting
for a Ventura "Silverstone" magnetic tank bag to arrive.Stone chips can be a
problem here,on a recent ride while closely pursueing a fellow on a suzuki I
got a cracked headlight,so now the GB has a perspect lens cover, the
headlight being an expensive thing to replace.
One thing I would like to obtain is the dual seat(original Honda)from the
GB400 including lefthand pillion peg mount and pegs for both sides,Has
anybody got any leads? they are very hard to obtain here.
Also any genuine Honda accessories, tank knee pads for example,I'm sure Japan
must have lots of stuff waiting to be bought.
If I can help in anyone, I'll be glad to,lets get an International GB500TT
appreciation thing going,swap spec's,ideas,picture's etc.etc.
Please publish this on your web site.
In the meantime ride safe,be in touch.************* Unfortunately these accessories are dificuit to found in Japan also.

Hello,
I bought a Honda GB500 in Japan last year and brought it to Sweden.
I want to restore it, have plenty spare parts but I also want to repaint
it. For this I need som new decals and padges.
Do you know where I can get them?********** Sorry I do not know what are they available or not.
I heard GB500 was soled in Europe also so you may order some parts in your local dealer if it was available.

Greetings from a crazy American who rides a Honda GB500! Actually it is a 600 now. Mine is not cosmetically as nicely modified as yours, but I did have some performance modifications done--big bore kit, porting, Supertrapp exhaust, and some other things. I enjoy riding it very much. I live in Washington State, and mostly ride my GB500 locally, but I have ridden it to California and back. Pardon me for my inability to write or speak Japanese. My bike will not beat the 4-cylinder machines but I love to ride it and it is very rare; I have never seen another one on the road in my part of the world. E-mail me! Perhaps some day we will meet.
********* Thank You for E-mailing me and sorry for late respons.
I Think my GB's engin is simuler spec. with your's.
My GB has 100mm bore now.
I use to live in Ohio but hove never been to Washington.
How is in this season?
I live in Tochigi Japan It is cold but no snow here so I ride my GB to commuteevery day.********* From David again 21 Jan 2000
Here in eastern Washington we have snow and sub-freezing temperatures for
much of the winter. I do not ride the GB500 much in the winter, but I do
take the Ural (Russian made) with the attached sidecar.riding quite a bit.GO TO HOME TO TOP From Nuchet 22 Nov 1999

I found your page in the net. Unfortunately most of it appears to be unreadable to me. I tried it with view characters whatever I could find but did not get characters at all .
The only page I could read is the starting page.
I am interested in your page especially the modifications. I plan a 600cc and
may be a 40mm Dellorto Carburator.
I would like to know what you did on your machine and would like to get your experience.
Can you simply email the text of your pages to me??
Or do you have any idea about the settings of netscape to be able to read your page??* * * * * * * Sorry I can not write it all in English.

thanks for email. Actually I did not expect to get an answer at all. So I am happy to hear from you. Yes there are som GB500 driven in Germany. Actually most of them are driven by women as in my case my girl friend is driving the GB500.
Ok your set up with the WB Kit seems to be pretty much what the birtish guys are doing to their GB500s. I ordered the WB cataloge already but still waiting.
One more technical question.I saw here from a Suzuki dealar who is roadracing a GB500 privately that he is using the electronic ignition from an XBR500. This one has an early ignition of 31 degree whereas the original GB500 igbnition has 21 degree. This should really give it a boost. Did you try this on your GB500??
Did you try also different cams? I plan to use the HRC cam.So I read your bike is going 180 kmh. Oh oh I have been in Japan several times. Not only that you drive on the wrong side (sorry just a joke) but where do you drive 180 kmh?? (Does not seem to me that this is allowed in Japan??)

have been several times in Japan in Tokyo Matsumoto and some other places Where are you located ??
What I have from the Honda RFC Engines especially the ignitions:Just in case anyone else wants to know here is what I have for Honda RFVC CDI
boxes: (The GB500 uses the MK6 CDI)
CDI part # idle advance full advance
MG3-003 6 BTDC below 1200 31 BTDC at 4000
MK6-671 8 BTDC below 1200 21 BTDC at 4000
MG2-871 11 BTDC below 1200 31 BTDC at 4000
MG2-891 11 BTDC below 1200 31 BTDC at 4000
MG2-892 11 BTDC below 1200 31 BTDC at 4000I found it in the britisch thumper page FAQs so the GB 500 is the only model which under (european) restrictions got the 21 degree all other engines got 10 degree more early ignition.
I will try it when the snow is gone according to the british guys it helps a lot.By Hartmut
