Dear JDM Members: I have just set up a small experiment on the web, designed to replicate a few trials from a series of much larger, laboratory studies of choice behavior. I am interested in the following questions: Are the data of decision making studies, obtained in experimental labs with intro. psych students replicated with less structured (but easy to set up) web survey procedures? Do results depend strongly on demographic characteristics of the participants, such as age, gender, education, and nationality? I would like to recruit faculty, grad students, undergrads, and especially the general, adult populations from all nations to participate in the survey. The survey takes less than 10 min for most people, and it offers participants a chance to win cash prizes up to $110. It deals with choices between gambles. When the survey is completed, 1% of participants (and no less than 2) will be chosen randomly to play one of the gambles they chose (all gambles have non-negative outcomes, so these are purely favorable gambles to play). Please publicize the survey to colleagues, students, and others. Please forward this message to people who might be interested or to any mailing lists to which you may belong. The address of the survey is: http://psych.fullerton.edu/mbirnbaum/exp2.htm Members of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making are also invited to take the survey; please mention that you're a member of JDM in the Comments field, as I would obviously want to analyze members' data separately. If you can help recruit "civilians" (i.e., non-academic, general population adults), I would also be most grateful. Thanks, and good luck, Michael Prof. Michael H.
