| Making of Tilting Angle Table |
Cutting of material for the table made of cast-iron square-bar.
Size
of this material is 125mm width, 25mm height and 160mm long.
Fixing way for the work.
It would be better to clamp with big vise, however I don't have it.
Right side is fixed with metal bar with clamping dogs. Left side shown in
the photograph is putting an angle plate to clamp and
press the work on the milling table with two screws. When
tighten the screws strongly, the table movement with handle become
little bit harder. I guess that it cause is a deformation of the table
causing tighten the screws.
The way fixing the work isn't so stable,
cutting depth is 0.25mm on each table slide.
You could see a wave on the work. This is due to gurge of the
material.
This is finish of the one face of the work.
You could see a cutter mark on it. This is cause by tilting of the
fraise head toward front side. However, flatness is guaranteed by a
method that using small diameter fly cutter and sweep small step. As a
result the surface become distinctly small height teeth form.
After cutting the surface, smooth the work with
sandpaper on the level block. |
This is the cutting
chip, carbide, with fly cutter holder. The way of the holding is a simple
method. The carbide chip is held with only
a set screw.
Marking for T-Slot after six surfaces
milled.
Size and distance between the T-Slots are
the same as lathe table, so I can use all accessories for my lathe.
Exclusive screw holes are made for my Rotary table.
Cutting cast iron produces iron grain and
iron powder, it mess up the workshop's floor.
Drilling of the tilting
angle base. The distance of the hole is the same span as milling table.
The height of the base was 14mm in the original design, however this size wasn't available
on the material shop, so I
changed the height to 16mm. When we use big size material, it
looks robust even if the design is simple.
Drilling procedure on the side of the table.
This hole must not cross the T-Slots.
After this, make tapping, 8mm.
Supporting point plate
Sickness is 6mm.Half rounding is done by hand.
This is a setting of the cutting of the angle holding
plate with the metal saw.
A sliding slot must be holed before this procedure.
All the parts have been assembled. |
This is application with
a small machine vise. T-slots on the table are adequate for clamping.
