| In 2002, the spring swarming season came unusually early |
In 2002, we had a forward spring in Osaka Prefecture. Cherry trees blossomed two weeks earlier than an average year. I am not sure if the Japanese honeybees in my yard joined the cherry blossom, they first swarmed on April 2. It was more than two weeks earlier than usual (the first swarming in the year 2001 was on April 19).
In this opportunity, getting many people's cooperation, I gathered information on the first swarming date in the year of 2002. The result shown below says that the first swarming was earlier in many parts of the country. It explains well that not only cherry trees but also honeybees' lives are responsive to climate.

In my investigation, in the whole of the Japanese archipelago, it depends on climate and could begin at late February.
