Season to take honey

If you are keeping Western Honeybee,you draw off the comb and centrifuge to take honey. Traditionally,people used to take honey by cutting the comb off the nest. The best season for it is May and October. In summer bees often run away and in winter the honey is not easy to handle.

How to take honey

Shake the nest,and bees run away. Turn over the nest to the ground and hit the box.After the bees go out,cut the comb from the top. You should leave half of all combs untouched.
Separate honey and brood,put the honey on the sieve. Soon honey dips off.
Honey of Japanese Honeybee is more brown and much more expensive than that of Western Honeybee. (If you want to try, please let me know.)
