From a Somalian Coin of 2000 Millennium Icons
Trivia
o The first year of His Imperial Majesty the Emperor Hirohito (Showa the Great*)'s reign is only 7 days. And the last year is also 7 days.
o H.I.M. is one of the Icons of the Millennium, a series of coins issued by Somalia in 2000. Others are Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela, Pope John Paul II, Che Guevara, and Mao Tse-tung!
o Manjiro Ichimura II plays H.I.M. in movies thrice!; Rekishi-no Namida ("Tears of History" 1980. TV movie), Dai-Nippon Teikoku ("The Great Empire of Japan" 1982), and Kokyo: Tenno-ga Furimukareta Toki ("Birthplace: When H.I.M. the Emperor Looked Buck" 1988. TV movie). He is one only person who acts the role plurally. They are very well received, though he is well-known as an Oyama (Onnagata) or a Kabuki actor who plays female roles!!
Kabuki actors, Koshiro Matsumoto IX and his son, Somegoro Ichikawa VII, both play H.I.M. in Movies!; Matsumoto in Nihon-no Ichiban Nagai Hi (1967), Ichikawa in Tenno Heika-no Yakyu Chiimu (H.I.M. the Emperor's Baseball Team. 1990. TV movie).
Moreover, Koshiro Matsumoto IX plays also H.I.M. the Emperor Mutsuhito (Meiji the Great) too!! (in Nihonkai Daikaisen. 1967)
Probably it is the reason of Kabuki actors are often casted the role that they have something atmosphere of traditional.
o There are two statuettes in H.I.M.'s writing room since long time before WW II. One is Charles Darwin's (H.I.M. is also a biologist) and another is Abraham Lincoln's. Incidentally the two Western greats born at same day of same month in the same year!!
o At his kindergarten, little Hirohito (Michinomiya) has a girl friend and they are so friendly some teachers feel as if they are a good little couple. Many years later she became H.I.M. the Empress Nagako (Kojun. 1903-2000)!!
o Some people wonder why H.I.M. couldn't stop the war in 1941, although it can be in 1945. The answer is evident. It is the reason that H.I.M. is not a dictator. So, keeping the constitution, he can't reverse the decision of the cabinet in 1941. Against it, in 1945, H.I.M. is asked his opinion before the decision of the cabinet, so he can stop the war legally. This situation is planned out by Prime Minister Kantaro Suzuki and probably H.I.M. himself.
o Two Atomic bombs supported H.I.M., because it makes good chance to persuade militarists to stop the war without a military coup (there was a little one; you can see it in a movie).
o Although they were chosen by weather conditions (the first aim was Kokura), Hiroshima and Nagasaki rhyme with T.I.M. the Emperor Hirohito and the Empress Nagako.
Moreover, Nagasaki is well known by Oura Catholic Church, the Japanese oldest (est. 1865) Church of Virgin Mary: the Heavenly Empress!!
o H.I.M. the Emperor's ordinary dinner is only one soup, two dishes, and rice by tradition. Probably it is the most simple meal in present-day Japan. No, there was another. According to his widow, Prime Minister Kantaro Suzuki after H.I.M.
