In the collaborative study, "Detection of biophoton in practicing Qigong by using a biophoton measuring technique" conducted by Dr. Yu and the New Technology Development Association's Biophoton Project led by Fumio Inaba, professor at Tohoku University, biophoton was detected being emitted from Dr. Yu's acupuncture points. When Dr. Yu started to transmit Qi, the amount of photon increased rapidly, and when he stopped transmitting Qi, the amount of photon returned to its former state. As soon as Dr. Yu started to transmit Qi to the test subject who was suffering low back pain, a fairly strong-level photon (sick Qi ?) was found at the diseased area. And the test subject said that his backache was relieved. The whole process of this experiment was televised by NHK in its program, "Science Q" on December 30, 1988 and January 6, 1989.

Joint research with Kazu Mori, professor at Meiji College of Oriental Medicine, “Experiment on comparison measurement of peripheral blood flow.”
In this experiment, Dr. Yu's peripheral blood flow was measured before and after his Qigong practice.
After Qigong practice, the peripheral blood flow in his fingertips was found to have increased by 287.4 % (about 3 times as much as before). The details of this experiment were televised by NHK in its program, "Science Q" on December 30, 1988 and January 6, 1989.

In December, 1988, Dr. Yu measured the thermal energy
(infrared rays) emitted from his body surface using a thermograph in
cooperation with Yoshiaki Igarashi, assistant professor at Nippon Medical
School. As Dr. Yu started to transmit Qi, his palm temperature went up by
3.15 degrees centigrade. The details of this experiment were televised by
NHK in its program on December 30, 1988 and January 6, 1989.
In the similar experiment conducted at St. Marianna
University School of Medicine, Dr. Yu intentionally tried to raise
and lower his palm temperature. It was recorded that there appeared such a
big temperature difference as 4.5 degrees centigrade. The details of this
experiment were broadcast by Fuji TV on December 24, 1989.
On July 14, 1990, another experiment was conducted
together with Yoshio Machi, professor at Tokyo Denki
University to find the effect caused by Qi transmission to another person.
As Dr. Yu transmitted Qi to the test subject’s palm at a distance of 20
to 60 centimeters, the test subject’s palm temperature went up by
more than 3 degrees centigrade, while Dr. Yu’s palm temperature went up
by more than 5 degrees centigrade. The details of this experiment were
broadcast by TV Asahi on November 28, 1990.
On October 16, 1991, Dr. Yu examined how his
palm temperature changed during his Qigong practice and after practice in
cooperation with Yoshiaki Igarashi, assistant professor at Nippon Medical
School in the Thermography Room there. As Dr. Yu started to practice
Qigong, his palm temperature went up by more than 3.5 degrees centigrade
in about 3.5 minutes. After 10 minutes had passed, his palm temperature
still remained higher by 2.5 degrees centigrade than it was before he
started the practice. This result was reported in a magazine published by
Kodansha Ltd. Publishers.
On March 5, 1992, Dr. Yu transmitted Qi to a
test subject. An infrared measuring instrument was used at Tokyo Denki
University to examine the changes in palm temperatures of Dr. Yu and the
Qi receiver. Nine minutes after Dr. Yu started to transmit Qi, Dr. Yu’s
palm temperature went up by 5 degrees centigrade. And it was confirmed
again that the brain waves of Dr. Yu and those of the Qi receiver were
tuned in to each other. It also attracted the examiners’ attention that
Dr. Yu’s brain waves had already been stabilized before he started
Qigong practice. The details of this experiment were
broadcast by Nippon TV in its program,” Wonder Zone .”
In March, 1993, the skin surface temperature changes
were again measured for Dr. Yu and the Qi receiver. The result was
as remarkable as before. The details of the experiment were broadcast by
Nippon TV in its program,” Wonder Zone.”

At Tokyo Women’s Medical College, how widely a diaphragm moves up and down in breathing was studied. When Dr. Yu performed the abdominal breathing which is a fundamental way of breathing in Qigong practice, his diaphragm moved up and down about 5 times as widely as in normal breathing.
The details of this experiment were televised by NHK in its educational program,“ Try & Try.”

Dr. Yu conducted the experiment on the changes in a cancer patient’s blood before and after Dr. Yu’s Qi transmission together with Dr. Ryoichi Obitsu, director of Obitsu Sankei Hospital. After Qi transmission, it was found that the quantity of stress-related elements such as lactic acid, aldosterone, serotonin and other substances in the cancer patient’s blood had clearly decreased. The details of this experiment were reported at the symposium held by the Japan Holistic Medical Society in October, 1991.

At Japan Electron Optics Laboratory Co. Ltd., Dr. Yu and the researchers there examined the structural changes in distilled water and tap water caused by Dr. Yu’s Qi transmission using NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance apparatus). Dr. Yu transmitted Qi to each type of water for 1 minute. As a result, the hertz of the water molecule in the distilled water changed from 92 to 69 and that in tap water changed from 92 to 77. The details of this experiment were reported in the quarterly magazine, ”AZ “.

Dr. Yu conducted an experiment together with some staffs of Teikyo University on the changes in phagocytic capacity of white blood cells before and after Qigong practice. After Dr. Yu practiced Qigong for 30 minutes, the phagocytic capacity of his white blood cells was increased by 33 %. The details of this experiment were reported at the symposium held by Japan Holistic Medical Society in October, 1991.

Dr. Yu conducted an experiment on the measurement of magnetism during Dr. Yu’s Qi transmission from his acupuncture points together with Yoshio Machi, professor at Tokyo Denki University. In the acupuncture points of Dr. Yu’s Qi-transmitting hand, 5 microgauss of magnetism was measured. The details of this experiment were televised by NHK in its program, “Science Q“ on December 30, 1988 and January 6, 1989.

In this experiment, Dr. Yu transmitted Qi to a hospitalized 75-year-old hypertensive who was suffering from the type of hypertension known to be difficult to be relieved by taking antihypertensive drugs. After Dr. Yu transmitted Qi to the patient for 10 minutes, the patient’s blood pressure remarkably dropped ( from 188 over 93 to 172 over 86 ). The whole process of this experiment was broadcast by Nippon TV.

This experiment was conducted by Dr. Yu together with Yoshio Machi, professor at Tokyo Denki University. The frequency of the sound wave in Qi transmitted from Dr. Yu’s hands during ordinary Qigong practice was 0.5 to 0.6 hertz and the sound pressure was about 6 units. When Dr. Yu transmitted Qi very quietly and softly, the frequency of the sound wave in his Qi was 0.2 hertz and the sound pressure was about 4 units. But when Dr. Yu transmitted Qi very strongly, just as intending to kill cancer cells, the frequency and sound pressure in his Qi turned up to 1 hertz and about 8 units respectively. This experiment was completely recorded and broadcast by Nippon TV on March 1, 1993.
