Qi is a minute particle which constitutes everything in the universe, and Qi is the motive power to create, develop and change everything or every phenomenon in the universe. Besides, Qi is a life information which unifies people's body, mind and spirit by connecting them. The quality of Qi is dependent on people's state of health, morals, character, way of training, environment and thought.
Recently, it has been proven in some scientific studies and experiments that Qi transmitted from Qigong masters' acupuncture points contain infrared rays, static electricity, magnetism, photon, sound wave, minute particles and others. Moreover, in the experiment performed by Dr. Yu Yong Chang where he changed his thoughts while transmitting Qi, it was also proven that a frequency and intensity of sound wave contained in the transmitted Qi changed in accordance with the change of his thoughts. Namely, it has been proven that Qi in our body is nothing but a substance, energy and vital information as well.
Qigong is the method to cultivate Qi and develop people through self-help. It is a special self-strengthening health exercise ( the method to strengthen the body, mind and spirit, and to develop abilities ) born in China. Qigong practice basically consists of the 3 factors, Body Training ( Training of posture and movement ), Breathing Training and Mind Training. This practice enhances and controls people’s Qi that is the vital energy and the source of their lives. Through practicing it, people can gain health and longevity, cultivate intellectual capacity and ability, and develop latent ability. So, Qigong is quite useful to humans in their development and progress
In ancient times, Qigong was called Daoyin (the method to strengthen the body with movements ), Tuna (the method to strengthen the body with breathing ), Xingqi ( the method to promote Qi flow ), Lianqi (the method to train Qi ), Zazen (Meditation in Zen Buddhism ) and so on. There are a great number of different schools and a variety of different methods, but the ultimate purpose of practicing any methods is simply a cultivation of "Jing ( basic substance constituting everything )", " Qi ", and " Shen ( dynamic life phenomenon ) ", especially a cultivation of "Qi", so in modern times, all of those methods are collectively called Qigong.
Nowadays, after many historical changes over a 7,000 year history, Qigong attracted the attention of a great number of people in the world as "Qigong therapy". In various countries, lots of data on Qigong therapies have been collected and studied, and many Qigong clinics or research institutes have been established in various parts of those countries. Besides, Qigong has been widely spread among people as an easy way to stay healthy, so we can see many people doing Qigong exercises at public parks ( especially in China ).
Due to modern scientific research, it has been proven that Qigong practice brings about useful changes in brain waves, blood ingredients, hormone secretion, immunity, heartbeat, blood pressure, vital capacity and so on. But, there still remain many fields and potentialities to be studied. For instance, if we can fully discover the mechanism of how Qigong practice develops human's latent ability, mankind will undoubtedly make remarkable progress, I believe
1. Medical Qigong Qigong created by ancient Chinese medical scholars 2. Daoist Qigong Qigong started by Lao ZI (the famous seventh-century BC philosopher of China ) 3.
