Meeting with Tong Hui Gong Kimiko Ohshima To have learned Qigong Tui Na Yuji Matsu-ura

Kimiko Ohshima : director of a nursery school
In September, 1987, I underwent an excision of breast cancer, but the stage of progress in my cancer was already "three" (Relapse rate was said to be about 60 % ) and lymph node metastasis was also found. I was told to have chemotherapy treatment by the doctor concerned. However, I could not stop thinking that taking an anticancer agent must severely depress my immune system and vital energy. So, I dared to stop taking the anticancer agent despite strong objections of those around me. In June, 1989, I happened to know that the workshop named “ Qigong lecture and experiences for those suffering from serious diseases “ was going to be held by the International Qigong Association. I took part in the work shop and began to learn T. H. Ping Mi Gong, a basic method of Tong Hui Gong after that.
When I attended Dr. Yu’s class for the first time, I was surprised to find that my lungs and heart quickly became warm and my cold body began to be warmed up gradually and quietly. (I suppose that Dr. Yu must have transmitted Qi to me at that time worrying about my physical condition.) The classroom was full of soft and tender Qi and I had a feeling that I was embraced by something soft and warm. What surprised me even more was the fact that as my body became warmer, my ruffled feelings began to calm down too.
I had a feeling that something like a huge power or strong willpower worked with me. Without that experience, I might not have been able to acknowledge the facts as they were such painful circumstances. In November, 1989, I became an instructor of Tong Hui Gong, and now I have my own classes at Zama city, Kanagawa prefecture and at Mishima city, Shizuoka prefecture. The number of instructors in those areas has been increasing and the number of classes and clubs have reached as many as 21 in these 10 years. A great number of people are enjoying Tong Hui Gong practices there for the benefits of their own and their families’ health and happiness.
As Tong Hui Gong is a very clear Qigong system precisely based on Chinese medicine, its movements and imagination are very natural having no awkwardness in them. Compared to other Qigong methods I have experienced before, Tong Hui Gong enables us to feel Qi very quickly and clearly. And what is more, we feel very comfortable and become happy as Dr. Yu always tells us. Many people around me say that they can become happy just by hearing Dr. Yu's voice. That is not only because of his character but because of the good and high quality of his Qi. I always realize how great Dr. Yu is.
The more you practice Tong Hui Gong, the more profound it becomes. As it has many symptomatic methods, we can try any of them in improving our lives depending on the state of our health or our necessity. I mainly practice T. H. Ping Mi Gong, one of the primary methods early in the morning and just before going to bed. Owing to Qigong practice, I live a comfortable life very healthily without having a relapse of cancer. As I am running a nursery school along with Qigong classes, I am always so busy that many people often ask me, ”How do you find time to spare for yourself ?”. But I have been taking part in all of the necessary instruction seminars provided by Dr. Yu, and I could also take part in a sea-kayak marathon together with my husband and managed to complete the race. Maybe because I am enjoying my life so much, most of the people who see me after a long time tell me, “You have a good complexion, and your facial expression has changed a lot.“ Their words reminded me of the fact that I would often become ill in bed once or twice a year in the past, but since I started Qigong practice I have never suffered from any serious illnesses and I did not suffer menopausal symptoms either. I owe my current health entirely to Dr. Yu, a marvelous leader.
Cancer is generally considered to be a symbol of unhappiness as the disease is directly connected with death. But unless I had suffered from cancer, I would not have studied and practiced Qigong so eagerly and I could not see Dr. Yu either. Otherwise, I could not have seen so many people and expanded my horizon, and I would not be here either. Therefore, I believe that my having suffered from cancer was not an unhappy incident but a meaningful one for me. Trying to help more people meet Tong Hui Gong and have healthy, merry lives will be the way for me to repay Dr. Yu and the many people who supported me for their favors, I believe. I would like to express my hearty thanks to Dr. Yu and you all.
Yuji Matsu-ura : acupuncturist & acupressure therapist
T. H. Zang Fu Gong is splendid too ! .
Formerly, I did not have any doubts about my idea that no other Qigong methods are better than T. H. Ping Mi Gong. I have firmly believed that since I was going to practice T. H. Ping Mi Gong throughout my life, I would be secure enough and there would be no need for me to learn any other methods. Actually however, I was short -sighted. Even after Ms. Kimiko Ohshima, my honorable Qigong instructor told me about the profoundness of the Tong Hui Gong system, I was not willing to understand it. But, just recently, I came to understand what she meant.Last summer, Mr. Noriyuki Ohshima, my honorable senior acupuncturist, advised me like this, “since you are doing massage–oriented therapies, you should learn " Yu-style Qigong Tui Na therapy " from Dr. Yu. It will surely enable you to expand your therapeutic range." So, I went to the head office at Tamachi, Tokyo to study from September to November last year. At that time, Ms. Makido and Ms. Katsumata of the Mishima Regional Chapter to which I also belong happened to ask me out to also try T. H. Zang Fu Gong together with them, and I made up my mind to try it too at their invitation.
I still remember what happened to me on the day when I first practiced T. H. Zang Fu Gong. After I watched Dr. Yu going out of the classroom smiling, I lay down on the floor on my back. I was pleasantly in a sweat and my softened body was just melting in the floor. It was so comfortable and refreshing that I thought nothing else could give me such a nice feeling. At that moment, I remembered what Ms. Kimiko said to me as " Tong Hui Gong is so profound." " Yes, that 's right !" I almost said to myself aloud. I was very happy to realize that I came back to the Tong Hui Gong world again after five years of intermission. Actually the sense of stability and fulfillment we can gain through Tong Hui Gong practice is a charm of its own. It may not be only the matter of our feelings but the cells all over our body may be resonating in harmony with the ever- evolving universe.
To look back, it was early in the summer of 1990 that I began to learn T. H. Ping Mi Gong. I learned it at the corner of the nursery school run by Ms. Kimiko being surrounded by many babies. Ms. Kimiko was very fresh immediately after she became a qualified Tong Hui Gong instructor. I learned it in the busy evening only for a short time, but it was a very fulfilling and meaningful practice. Without that practice, I could not have completed my hectic schedule at that time. I thank her very much.
At that time, I was a student at a vocational school for acupuncturists after having quit my job as an office worker. As I did not have much in the way of savings, I could not bring up three children depending on a regular part-time job. So, I was working through the night every other day at Yokohama and having a daily cash income just to scrape by. It was an unimaginably exhausting life to go on working hard without having any sleep every other day. However whenever I was going to collapse from exhaustion, T. H. Ping Mi Gong taught by Ms. Kimiko helped me. During every break at my workplace, I usually practiced Qigong to revive me instead of lying down. During the daytime, I attended classes as a student and in the noon recess I made it a rule to practice Qigong at the nearby park. I was a model student, so to speak, and I am proud of myself about that. Looking back to that time, it is almost incredible how I could do such a thing.
But maybe because of my desperate efforts for three years, immediately after I succeeded in the national examination to be a qualified acupuncturist and felt the tension go, I felt awfully fatigued all at once. Although I was confident about having physical strength by then, just to keep standing began to make me tired and even Qigong practice did not give me any signs of recovering. What is worse, treating a patient made me so tired that I myself was going to become sick. It was at that time that Mr. Noriyuki Ohshima advised me to go to see Dr. Yu and receive Qi transmission from him. I underwent Qigong therapy by Dr. Yu at the head office of IQA situated in Tamach, Tokyo from July, 1993 to February, 1994 and I could fortunately get myself back into good physical condition.
That disorder of my body was a foreboding of my death, I think. I really do not know how to thank Dr. Yu and Mr. Noriyuki Ohshima enough for having saved my life. And now I am highly motivated to learn Yu-style Qigong Tui Na therapy from Dr. Yu, recommended by Mr. Ohshima.
At the vocational school for acupuncturists, they teach us how to treat symptoms on a case by case basis but do not tell us how to treat each disease itself. However, Dr. Yu’s textbook clearly tells us how to treat each disease. I am so grateful to Dr. Yu for that point as a professional therapist. I am now performing Qigong Tui Na therapy in my treatment little by little to master it as soon as possible. After I finished learning Yu-style Qigong Tui Na therapy, I learned Qigong Tui Na therapy for infants and children too. In Japan, there is no special curriculum to teach how to treat children, and it is left in each therapist's hands to master the techniques for treating children.
Dr. Yu’s knowledge never ceases to amaze me. I have firmly made up my mind that I will follow him !
