Outline

"Tong Hui" means to improve people's intellectual capacity and ability (for self-regulation, working etc. ) through the development of their brains
Tong Hui Gong is a medical Qigong seeking the improvement of both " Character " ( brain capacity, wisdom, moral character ) and " Health " ( health, longevity ).
Dr. Yu Yong Chang, the originator of Tong Hui Gong, started to learn Qigong and traditional Chinese medicine from his father in his early childhood. As he was learning, he was disappointed to notice the decline in medical Qigong. Medical Qigong whose level had been very high 2,000 years ago was stagnant then, and what was called Medical Qigong at that time was mostly composed just resembling Daoyin or Tuna originating in Daoist Qigong. Except Anmo Qigong (Chinese Qigong massage which gives quick relief ), there were few Qigong precisely based on the principles of Chinese medicine. So, Dr. Yu Yong Chang resolved to redevelop true Medical Qigong and studied and mastered various types of traditional Chinese Qigong.
Based on the Yu-family-Qigong, he eventually developed the Tong Hui Gong System ( a series of medical Qigong ranging from the introductory courses to advanced levels ) by making the best use of Chinese medical principles, his own Qigong practices and studies of more than 30 years, his knowledge of physiological conditions of the human body, and after more than 10 years of arranging, modifying, and practicing each method.
Since then, Tong Hui Gong has been highly appreciated by specialists, Qigong practitioners and students due to its exact theories, technique composition, excellent effects on improving people's health and developing their latent abilities and so on.

 Advice and Warnings

Qigong is a marvelous method to gain both mental and physical health.

But if it is mistakenly or carelessly practiced, it may harm you (bring about side effects called Piancha in Chinese ) as has been said from ancient times. Experiences over several thousand years tell us that we can avoid such side effects  by paying enough attention to the following warnings.

  1. about Image Training
In practicing Image Training, never do it strongly, but do it lightly and softly.
  2. about Breathing Training
In practicing Breathing Training, breathe naturally.  Never breathe hard until your stomach becomes full nor breathe excessively long.
  3. Never practice 2 or more different Qigong types ( belonging to different schools ) at the same time. Each type of Qigong has its own way of circulating Qi.  If you practice different types of Qigong at the same time, that might put your  Qi circulation into the state of disharmony.

  4. It is safer for beginners to learn Qigong from well-trained instructors than practicing  it only depending on textbooks or videotapes
