| A | 1. An applicant should study at a college, a specialized course of study
at an advanced vocational school ("Senmongakko) and so on. |

2. The applicant must have sufficient assets, a scholarship, or other means
of support to meet his expenses while in Japan,
unless someone else will pay the applicant's expenses. |

| 3. In the case of an auditor or research student planning to study solely
by auditing, he or she should attend at least 10 hours a week. |

| 4. In cases where the applicant is to enroll in a specialized course of study at an advanced vocational school (excluding solely Japanese language study), the applicant must have studied the Japanese language for at least 6 months at one of the designated Japanese language institutions. |

| 5. In cases where the applicant is to study only the Japanese language in a specialized course of study at an advanced vocational school, the school concerned should be one of the designated Japanese language institutions. |
