1949 `Born in Ashikaga,Tochigi prefecture.He interested in
Jazz while he was a student at Kunitachi Music College.
1971 `Debut with SADAO WATANABE(As) Quintet .
1974 `VXPlayed with TERUMASA HINO(Tp) QUINTET,TAKEO MORIYAMA(Ds)
Quartet,and his own TRIO.Released 3 recordings,<TOU>,<RISE
& SHINE>,and <NATURE>.
1982` Released solo piano album <WATARASE>,and solo tour
around 101 places in Japan.
1984`Organized 11members as "ITABASHI ORCHESTRA",and
released <IMPACT>.
1985 `Played as "HOT SESSION" with SHIGEHARU MUKAI(Tb),and
RYOUJIROU FURUSAWA(Ds).
1986`Released <RED APPLE>with his own new TRIO,and played
with Ashikaga Symphony Orchestra.
1987` World Tour as a member of ELVIN JONES(Ds)'s JAZZ MACHINE,
like in 1985.
1988 `Released <GRAND
SLAM>as "HOT SESSION".Played with EDDIE DANIALS(Cl)
at OSAKA Symphony Hall.
1989 `Played as "FOUR SOUNDS"with KOUSUKE MINE(Ts),NOBUYOSHI
INO(B),HIROSHI MURAKAMI(Ds),and Released <LIVE AT MOBS>.Released
<TO-BE>with SENBA KIYOHIKO(per),and NOBUYOSHI INO(B).
1990` Played as "TO-BE TRIO"with KAZUTOKI UMEZU(As),NOBUYOSHI
INO(B), toured in Australia,and Indonesia.World Tour as a member
of RAY ANDERSON's GROUP.
1991`Played in RAY ANDERSON's album <WISHBONE>,and debut
at VILLAGE VANGUARD in N.Y..Toured in U.S and Canada.Performed
in a play "SONG DAYS"with ASUKA KANEKO(Vn).
1992`Played as "TO-BE TRIO"at "Jazz Club",HongKong
for a week.and at the first Hongkong Jazz Festival.Became independent
from PIT IN MUSIC.Music director and player with KAZUTOKI UMEZU
at movie"The
peach land",directed by Stan Lai.
1993`Organized his own office "MIX DYNAMITE",and
played as "MIX DYNAMITE UNITE".
Released 4 kinds of live recording
CD. Performed as "TUKI NO
TUBO"(pot of the moon)with TETSU SAITOU(B),KAZUE SAWAI(koto).Performed
as "TUKI NO TUBO" with Lee Tae Baek,Kim SukChul,Kim
Sunga,etc.at the first "EURASIAN ECHOES"Concert , SOUL,in
KOREA.Played as "MIX DYNAMITE"at Malaysia Jazz festival.
1994`Music director and player at movie "Samayoeru-Nouzui",directed
by SADAAKI HAGINIWA and 'Red Lotus Party' by Stan Lai. played
with LEONARD ETO(wadaiko).Europe tour with TAKEO MORIYAMA(Ds).
Thailand & Laos tour as "TUKI NO TUBO",and played
as "MIX DYNAMITE" at Jazz Festival in Jakarta,Indonesia
, "Jazz Club" at Hongkong,and Japan tour.
1995`Produced the first concert"heat of Asia,MIX DYNAMITE,the
wind blowing in Asia" at Bangkok,Thailand.Performed at "live
house "and elementary school in Thailand.
Organized "MIX DYNAMITE HOUGAKU(Japanese traditional music)
UNITE" and performed at "Save The Earth Concert"
etc.
produced "Fumio Itabashi-song of the earth-'at Yokohama
Jazz Promunard.Japan tour with LEONARD ETO.
released <MIX DYNAMITE-YU->(from
OMAGATOKI,shinseido),played at elementary schools and junior high
schools in Japan.
1996`Played with YUJI MURAI(Cl)-classic musician-at JT ART
HALL.Okinawa solo piano tour.Produced "fumio Itabashi-song
of the earth 2-" at Yokohama Jazz Promunard. Invited to Jazz
festival at Bangkok- commemoration of 50years succession of monarch
in Thailand.
1997`played at "New York Jazz festival"(produced
by knitting
Factory in N.Y.),and
at Jazz Festival in Rome,Paris,Keln and so on. They estimated
his originality of music very highly. Released new CD <UCHICYUME-OTUKISAMA->with Okinawa
Island folk singer TETUHIRO DAIKU. Produced "FUMIO ITABASHI-song
of the earth 3-the wind of Okinawa>.
1999~2000~Released 2vols CD<005>-live
at Jazz Lovely.Performed in Rome,Italy,with Yuki Kaneko-Japanese
folksinger.Their performance was very exciting.Played <Watarase
symphonyversion>with Kanagawa philharmonic orchestra at Yokohama
jazz Promunard.Audiences were moved very much.It was successful
performance.
Itabashi was music producer in Christopher Doyle's movie
<KUJAKU>,which was screened at Canne Cinema Exhibition in
1999.
In2000,he released the first pianosolo CD<NORTH
WIND>(2vols) and Trio's CD<SANSAN>.They
were successful,too.In summer,he traveled all over Kenya.He met
African spirits.
In addition to pursuing his own project,the origin of music,he
often goes to Thailand tour of agriculture with organic agriculture
group,and plays at schools in Japan.
Itabashi continues to participate in sessions beyond Jazz.
His music is sometimes powerful,sometimes healing and warm.
