Offered here for auction is this very desireable and highly collected old antique 20th Century military issue Zippo lighter from World War II and dates to about 1942, before the 3 barrel hinge, and is commonly called the "Black Crackle" type due to the type of black paint originally sprayed on them from the factory to prevent rust to the all steel case. This awesome example features an original brass Army insignia on the front to really give it character and eye appeal applied by a soldier in the field, just like those soldier's before him in WWI and those later in the Vietnam/Viet Nam war with their engraved types. The lighter has its original 4 barrel hinge and insides and is all as it was when it came back from the war. It is 100% untouched condition for the true collector, still smells like the war! The lighter is stamped on bottom "Zippo" with patent numbers, etc. and insides are the correct unstamped variety. The condition of the lighter is good and all original, but used with scratches and wear and drops, and general use, hey, it's been through a war! The Zippo insides look good and I just cleared the tube of a dried flint and put a new flint in and some fluid with good results, please see pic, but lid cam arm is not very springy. The lighter will not be filled with Ronson fluid before shipping due to postal regulations. The original wick tip sits fine and will not touch it. A very special and desireable lighter that will look perfect next to even the Dunhill's, Cartier's, DuPont's, and sterling silver bakelite Tiffany & Co. type's, even great with the old advertising/advertisement types. A special momento of the war that has been sitting in the back of a table drawer all these years well protected, sure to be the highlight of the collection.
