Cz (Ceska Zbrojovka a.s. Uhersky Brod)
◇History and Comments◇
Ceska Zbrojovka a.s. Uhersky Brod, usually shortened as Cz, is an ex-Czechoslovakia gun maker who has been making unique guns such
as Cz75, Vz61 Scorpion submachine gun, and so on. But they had not been
very poplular worldwidely before the 1990s because they were guns of the
Eastern world or communists' countries. Among them, however, in the 1970s,
Cz75 became famous in the Western world because U.S. Colonel Jeff Cooper,
known as 'God of Combat Shooting', called it 'the best combat auto in the
world'.
The first Cz toy handgun in Japan was Marushin's gas gun of Cz75. Marushin
also released its Hyper Blowback version (gas blowback and cap cartridge
firing sound). But they didn't make its modelgun version for some time.
MGC was planning to make a modelgun version, but they didn't. At last Marushin
released a Cz75 modelgun made out of its gas gun. The real gun of Cz75
is a 9mm parabelum gun, but the Marushin Cz75 is a .380 or 9mm short model
because it was planned and produced with parts of its gas gun.
Hudson started producing Vz61 Scorpion in 1981. The first production
was a gold-coated model like other zinc-alloy handgun modelguns, but soon
it became a blued(black) model. Later Hudson released a silver-coated version
temporarily, but they have been making the black model only. The Hudson
Scorpion is a Piston Fire blowback model, but it is said it doesn't work
very well.
