ZDNet 4-Star Editors' Pick: "It may not have quite the punch of some others we've seen, but it's easy to use, well-designed..." |
| I have longed to get a free math expression evaluator for my engineering purposes: I used to do calculations like a*x^3+b*x^2+c*x+d or ATN{(a-b)/(c-d)} and change one of variables. It was something like ATN{(5.783E+05-1.345E+05)/(3.255E-03-2.288E-03)} and 3.255E-03 to be replaced with other values for instance. I have intensively searched the web in vain, so I wrote this program by myself. It is small enough in size not to hinder other windows and always visible while doing other tasks. From the Funciton Paster menu you can paste almost all engineering functions to the Expression Input box in a moment. |

VERSION 2.03 - FIXED PROBLEM
- Calculation results could not be correctly shown after a decimal separator only when the operating system uses a comma as the decimal separator. This problem was due to an improper number locale conversion process though calculations themselves were correctly done. This bug was fixed.
VERSION 2.02 - IMPROVEMENTS
- Operands *, / or ^ followed by + or - without brackets can be correctly recognized. ExCalc understands 3.14*-2, 3.14/-2 and 3.14^-2 as 3.14*(-2), 3.14/(-2) and 3.14^(-2) respectively.
- A comment can be added to custom functions such as "Quadratic formula:{X+sqr(X^2-4*Y*Z)}/(2*Y)" placing a colon between the comment and the equation.
VERSION 2.01.18 - BUG FIX
- When large fonts were used for Windows system, the main form and the About dialog box were incorrectly shown. This bug was fixed.
VERSION 2.01.17 - CHANGES
- Minor change for dynamic exchange with SuperCon 2000
VERSION 1.02 - BUG FIX AND IMPROVEMENTS:
- When you click the OK or the Cancel button in the Fonts and Colors dialog box, the ExCalc window cannot stay on top even if you chose the Always on Top option. This bug was fixed.
- The previous evaluation history and the last math expression can be restored when you run ExCalc.
