Bernhard Hammig |
*Language in German, English and Italy. (formerly Johannes Hammig brand.) While iInheriting superb characteristics of his grand father Johannes Hammig, Bernhard Hammig is much modernized: easier to play and has large volume (IMHO). Mechanics could be better, but anyway I love it by its unexceptionable tone.
Since the site opened, one photo taken by Ryuta being used in Silver flute page. I was so surprised and happy when I got the e-mail from Mr. Bernhard Hammig. |

Sakurai Flute |
*Makes flute in incredebly wide range of materials including ceramic, ivory, ebony (not grenadilla), snake wood, black silver, Au10, platinum, corian®, etc.. Ordinary wooden flutes are made of grenadilla (Dalbergia melanoxylon), but Sakurai Flute makes real ebony (Diospyros ebenum, and many other Diospyros ~) flutes. Ebony is used for recorder (Blockfloete) and I have a recorder in ebony made by other maker too, but I don't know other flute makers making ebony boehm flutes. Metal flutes are made in soldered tone holes only, including student models (actually real top grage hand made flute made by german silver.) Pricing is too low in my opinion. Production volume is very limited and I want them used by who really want them. |

*Wood wind instrument shop located in Yokohama Japan. (Higashi-hakuraku station or Higashi-Kanawaga station.) Has lots of flutes. Sells Sakurai Flutes. I bought Ph. Hammig piccolo for orchestra club in my university here. A salesman taught me that there werer three persons who were making Ph. Hammig in that era: the Black case, the Brown case, and the Light brown case. IMHO, the piccolos in light brown case are the best in balance, but I love the hard to play but very firm sound Black case. Maybe its all black case these days. (not about the color of the piccolo itself, but the "hard case". I have tried Helmuth Hammig here with my friend. |
