The converted book should be used in conformity with terms and conditions of the original dictionary. The conversion script can be used, modified and/or distributed under the terms of GNU General Public License Version 2 or later.

	Software Requirements for Conversion

• FreePWING
• jargon-fpw 2.0:
  • Perl XML::LibXML module
  • JPEG to BMP converter (djpeg by default)
  • PNG to BMP converter (pnb2bmp by default)
  • BMP quantitization command (yPadie by default)

	Supported Data Format/Versions

Jargon-fpw 2.0 requires the XML and graphic files contained in Jargon master tarball. Neither HTML nor plain-text formatted Jargon's are supported. Be sure to choose the master tarball distributed as jargsrc.tar.gz, not the HTML tarball, when you obtain the source data.

Jargon-fpw 1.x requires a text-formatted Jargon file that had been distributed as jargXXX.gz (where XXX was the version number). It may be used to convert an old version of The Jargon File, though the text-formatted Jargon has now been obsoleted.
