“Sonata brillante, Op.15” by M.Giuliani is one the great sonatas written for guitar in 19th century. Giuliani is known as a composer who wrote difficult pieces like “Grand Overture” and “Rossiniane”, but short pieces and Sonatine are also very lovely. So I will play some studies and preludes by him. In the second half I will some well known spanish music like “Asturias” by I.Albeniz, “Danza Espanola No.5” by E.Granados. See you!
Please check this page, and see you in Kyoto ArtStage567 on 19th May ! |

Tour in USA, «SHIKI» performances of 4 times, a recital with Bill and a concert of my music, left me a big memory. I am so appreciated to the dedication of all the players for my piece. I am so impressed how they loved my music. All the trip with friends of LAGQ was a big fun. And I have become a bif Fan of BBQ. I've already had it after Loudoun County, in LA, in Houston airport and Dallas. If you have facebook account, you can see an album of me “SHIKI tour”., please click the left side picture. Now I miss all the friends I saw in the concerts and BBQ!

We musicians sometimes try to express our feeling or thoughts in the works, but it is not always easy. This documentary video, titled as “The Journey to Shiki” LCPS-TV made, expresses and explain what we did this March in Loudoun County. Great video! (April 29)

Generally speaking, the musical term ‘ritornello’ is used to describe the form and style of certain Baroque arias and concertos. However, the inspiration that moved me to compose this work was not that specific musical tradition, but a strong sympathy for the original meaning of this Italian word, ‘to return’. It reflects a deeply-held belief of mine: that the instinct to return to our places of origin, to our memories of the past, is a universal one. And that by returning to these places of our past, either physically or mentally, we believe we can find true happiness. As the title shows, this work consists of four movements. (... see more) |
