 Horizontal
Concierto (2009), premier in Kyoto
Mandolin ensemble Fiolentino will gives
the second performance, but the premier in Kyoto of Horizontal
Concierto by Shingo Fujii (2009). Soloist is Shin-ichi Fukuda
and the composer, S.Fujii himself conducts. It is sure that this will
be very exciting with this combination of Shin-ichi and Shingo, who
know to each other for lonf time as friends and have already played
the Concierto de los Angeles many times together. [2010, Jan.

 Lecture
on Conducting for guitarists
Shingo Fujii will have special lecture on conducting
for guitarists in Tokyo, in very ends of year 2009 (produced by Tomikawa
Guitar School). The first lecture (Dec. 28) is for "basic
technique of conducting", the second (Dec.29) is for
"apllication in guitar ensemble", the third (Dec.30)
is for "real conducting and how to train guitar ensemble".
All the participants who study conducting and all the auditors must
play the guitar as members of the real guitar ensemble (orchestra).
All the pieces for the lecture will be newly composed by Shingo

 Shingo
Fujii, guitar and his works
A very special concert by Shingo Fujii, who will play
his own works for guitar duo and trio with brillante young guitarists
from Tokyo, Masahiro
Masuda and Masatomo
Tomikawa. As duo program, not only well known Danse d'Azur
and The Dawn of Music (12 Japanese Songs), but also a newly
composed piece for this concert, Fragments will be played.
As Trio, River Run will be played by M.Masuda, M.Tomikawa and

Danny has just sent me copy of the interview
made during the stay in Shanghai for Shanghai
Guitar Week this Oct. This interview was done in Danny's studio
in Shanghai Conservatory, that looks very comfortable. It is a pitty

William Kanengiser
plays "Concierto de los Angeles" again!
It was year 2006 when I composed "Concierto
de los Angeles" for Mr.Kanengiser and we did its premiere
in Kyoto. The concert and his performance was unforgettable, and fantastic.
After that this piece was played by many guitarists, and Mr.Kanengiser
and I also played in Fukuoka, L.A., and Beijing. Please don't loose
a chance to listen to him play this concerto in US 2009 and 2010.

 Shanghai
Guitar Week
Invited to Shanghai Guitar Week (Oct.12 - 17),
had a master classes, recital, symposium, and national competition.
The 1st half of recital was solo, and played J.K.Mertz, L.Brouwer,
T.Takemitsu and J.Turina. The 2nd half was my own composition, Sonata
for Cello and Guitar, Air, Variations on Folia de Espana,
and 3 pieces from "The Dawn of music" with guitarists
in Shanghai. This festival made a great success, and it was so exciting
to see young guitarists in Shanghai and many teachers from variable

and Concert in Shanghai (April)
The first visit to Shanhai, and the first performance
of "Concierto de Los Angeles" in Shanghai with Shin-ichi
Fukuda from Japan. The lecture was held for students of Shanghai conservatory
on subject "repertoire for guitar from 20th century".[2009,

 "Concierto
de los Angeles" in Taiwan
The first visit to Taiwan, and the first performance
of "Concierto de Los Angeles" there with Mr.Shin-ichi
Fukuda. The concert mada a big success and the stay in Taiwan
is so great with my friends, Yasuji Ohagi and Kim Yonte.
We all enjoyed rehearsing with young guitarists there, concert, audience
of the concert, and every foods. If its possible for me, I would like
to visit Taiwan again soon! [2008, Nov.17] |
