"Back street in Shanghai"
I like an alley walk and I have the habit
of entering to the back street or the thin
alley. It is three years ago just to think
that it will become even an alley photographer
rather and to have began to have gone out
the alley in East Asia, such as Tokyo, Souel
,Pusan, Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing, and Shanghai,
for knowledge. It was thought final that
the alley in China was the most interesting.
Although the alley as an old building and
narrow space exists in every place, there
are not so many alleys which feel man's fresh
presence except for a market or a morning
fair. That is, urbanization rarefies the
feeling of a life of an alley.
@
I see an old Japanese movie and feel humanity
of a downtown area. However, even if it actually
carries out to the way of a downtown area,
under the influence of a decrease in the
birthrate, there are also few people and
only an old person's figures are conspicuous
daytime. Under dull influence, the shutter
is getting down from some of stores.
Recently, the city in China is also prosperous
in apartment construction, and old rows of
houses are pulled down rapidly. Neither a
bath nor a toilet is in an old house, and
it is narrow in it. The idea that it is happier
to have got compensation from the government
and to transfer to the housing complex of
the suburbs is also reasonable. It is not
that a foreigner says this and that, either.
But an old life form is also extinguished
at the same time an old construction group
disappears. Although a sight of the father
and son who are playing China chess in the
road, and the children who run about with
a watermelon can be seen, it is thought that
such a life style also disappears and I feel
that it is regrettable somehow to me.
Although Shanghai is the city expanded centering
on the settlement ground after making it
contract Treaty of Nanjing after modernization,
it is also the old town which has 700 years
or more of history from the first. Although
demolition is also already progressing considerably,
if you still walk along the alley around
old Shanghai Prefecture castle area, the
old apartment is located in a line and it
can be immersed in a nostalgic feeling.
It thought that an old life style would be
recorded, and I hung the old twin-lens reflex
camera, and went out the downtown area in
Shanghai for photography.
