Coalition Cabinet
Are there any countries where political parties are so frequently reformed or ministers are almost occupied with male senior besides for Japan ?
Can you believe those politicians to be really sophisticated and hard working for people ? Maybe they are just politicians who are devouring your tax..
But however incredible, critical, or apathetic we might be to the politicians or political parties, we have to go forward to the direction the ruling party has decided.
So now we have to focus on the issue that the LDP and the LP try to establish a coalition government. In light of the nation's economic woes - which call for stability, first and foremore, the alliance would be one of the options.
Some people say it is quite natural for political parties that are close in terms of policies and ideals to conclude that stability cannot be achieved without uniting, launching resolute policies and reconstructing the economy. They also say each party has its own logic and ideals, but they should come later in such economical crisis.
Considering about the situation that the LDP faces difficulty in getting bills through the House of Coucilors, where it falls far short of a majority without a coalition, it is very persuasive for two parties to shake hands. But we must remember Ichiro Ozawa has proposed a few controversial requirements in setting for a coalition.
One is conditional participation by the Self-Defense Forces in armed missions of the United Nations. Mr. Ozawa is well known as an advocate of amending the Constitution of Japan, especially Article 9. He said the provisional coalition accord he reached with Mr. Obuchi last month should paves the way for changing the constitutional interpretation.
For the time being, the chief of the Cabinet Legislation Bureau explained Obuchi's caution by repeating that the government's traditional interpretation of the Constitution bars the SDF from joining U.N. military operations.
Another is to reduce the number of the Diet numbers in both houses. Mr. Obuchi gave a circumspect reply for it, because this issue has not been well discussed.
Of course the main proposal of the LP is lowering or freezing of the 5% consumption tax in the interest of stimulating the economy, but we have to be cautious about the other proposals Mr. Ozawa is attempting to pass. Otherwise we may have to sacrifice ourselves for the problem.
A famous philosopher says, "An idle country is consisted of idle politicians who were elected by idle people." Now, the word is paying much attention to how Japanese government could steer forward the prosperous country. We would like to establish such a government of the people, by the people, and for the people as would be a good example for the world.
