How do you want to spend your own life in the last year of 1900s ? Some people have already started in order to achieve their own dream or purpose, and others live monotonously day by day without any ideas. Whichever group you may belong to, nobody can interfere with the other. Because it absolutely depends on your favor.
But we have to remember that we live in a society which is consisted of people. In other words, we have to take some responsibility to the society while asking for our own satisfaction. For example, could we feel happy ultimately if we are rich and wealthy, if we graduate from a prestigeous university, if we work for a famous company which is lanked with AAA by the Modie's, if you are very sofisticated in a field? We would say "No", because all these preconditions could be a factor for it but not always requisite.

Then, when could we feel really happy?
One previous day, Prince Akishino replied to the interview saying, "I wish I could be a duck."
There is a man who has pursued and achieved almost all the conditions described above, but never satisfied himself asking for another life as a Zen priest. These two persons sees to imply that what really makes us happy is neither fame nor honor. Japanese people have believed they could become happy if they devote themselves in order to make Japan rich, whose illusion has collapsed. And people begin to realize happiness will be brought from your mental satisfaction not from materialistic one.

Maybe, however, developed our society is, however convenient our life is, our perception to happiness may not be changed substantially. Development and convenience can not always compansate for vanity in our mind. In reverse those two factors have sometimes made us disturbed or turmoiled. Our curiosity and greed may have intervened in the mysterious world too deeply.

We could find happiness at the foot of our more simple life. If we love nature and accept it as it is, we will able to appreciate even a little blessing. If you could notice anyone who appreciate your love and kindness, you will be happy as well.
Let's go back to the starting point and think about how to survive independently with other people in your neighborhood, in your community, in your country and in the universe.

• I think that Living together sometimes makes very difficult problems. Generation gap must be one of the reason for the problem. Sometimes I feel a kind of jerousy to younger generation.
