Mt. Fuji, a representative stratovolcano of Japan, has long been an object of worship since ancient times. This program focuses on the natural history of the mountain. Through an easy trail walk with spectacular views. You will enjoy and learn from nature of which we are also a part. No other tour will offer you the fun of walking and learning at the same time.

2. Where and What Time

Meeting Place:  Kawaguchiko Station (Fujikyu Railways)
at the mailbox shown in the photo.

Time: 9: 20 a. m.


We will meet here.


3. Tour

Kawaguchiko -(local bus)- Oniwa-Okuniwa-Ochudo- Fifth Station -(local bus)- Kawaguchiko
Duration: 6 hours (9:20 a.m. - 3:20 p.m)
Trail Walk: 2.5 hours (4 km or 2.5 miles)
Elevation Gain: 20 m or 60 feet

4. What to Bring

You will walk at about 2,300 m above sea level where weather is not predictable. Bring warm clothes.  We also suggest you wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring your own picnic lunch or snacks and drinks if you want to. (there are a few restaurants at the fifth station).

5. Price

3,000 yen per person (age 12 or over)
*children under 12 free with a responsible adult participant.
*Please pay the above amount in cash yen at the meeting point 
*Round-trip bus fare to Mt. Fuji (adult 2,000yen /child 1,000yen) is not included.

6. Conditions


*This walking tour is subject to cancellation on the day of the tour due to weather conditions or other factors affecting the safety of participants.

*This walking tour is not covered by a travel insurance policy.

7. Reservations

Please email us by 6 p.m. the evening before the tour date. We stop accepting applications even before this deadline if the maximum number is reached.  You can also make reservations through the website, "JGA Walking Tours" 

Please include the following information: 1. your name, 2. the number of participants, 3. the tour date, 4. the name of the hotel you will be staying at on the day of the tour, or any other contact information. 5. whether or not you need our assistance for the purchase of bus tickets.

8.  Notes

Getting there from Tokyo:  You can get there by bus or train.  Traveling by bus is quicker and less expensive.

About Bus Tickets

Expressway (Highway) Bus tickets (Shinjuku - Kawaguchiko, Kawaguchiko-Shinjuku) can be purchased at the bus terminal (1,700 yen one way; 3,400 yen round trip. No discount for round-trip tickets. /
children under 12: 850yen /children under 6 without seats, free).

The buses are often fully booked; it is safe to make a reservation by phone or on the website.

Take the bus No. 1101 (Lv. 7: 10) to Kawaguchiko (estimated time required : 1h. 45 min.). To return to Shinjuku, you can catch the bus No.1302 (Lv. 15:40) or a later one. You can make bus reservation through the website "highwaybus.com" in English. Click here for bus reservation

Local bus tickets (Kawaguchiko-Mt. Fuji-Kawaguchiko) are available at Kawaguchiko Station;
2,000 yen/adult, 1,000 yen/child. 

Total travel expense Shinjuku Kawaguchiko - Mt. Fuji Kawaguchiko - Shinjuku: 5,400 yen/adult,2,700 yen/child  



TRAVEL INSURANCE
This is a safety foremost program, and the trails are well maintained but since it is conducted around the timber line on the slopes of Mt. Fuji, we strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance for unexpected injury or disease.  We are not responsible for any injury or disease you may have during the tour.

This walking tour is basically for individual tourists and not for large groups. We limit the number of participants to 15 per tour so that every participant can enjoy a leisurely walk and also to minimize impact on the environment.
