Ieyasu was the eldest son of Hirotada Matsudaira in the Mikawa territory and was named Takechiyo originally. During Warring States Period(when continuously, warlords fought one another) Ieyasu Tokugawa was born as the eldest son of Matsudaira Hirotada in the Mikawa territory .

The Matsudaira family of Mikawa territory at that time was always exposed to the threat of the power in the neighboring territory like the Imagawa family of Suruga territory ,the Oda family of Owari territory and the Takeda family of Kai territory.
