The Zen Meditation Group of Rinsenji Zen Temple was founded by
Kazuo Eda, the late head priest of Rinsenji on February 22, 1984.
Since then many people from all walks of life have joined our
Zazen group, including many friends of Zen coming from different
countries around the world.

Rinsenji Temple offers morning and evening zazen sessions twice
every week and is thus well-known as a permanent Zen gathering
place in downtown Tokyo all over Japan as well as abroad.
With the demise of Eda R?shi, the Zazen sessions are held under
the guidance of the present head priest Makito Eda who
continuously encourages the members in their experience of the
“spirit of Zen.”
The 21st century marks again a growing need of “spiritual
values”. Wouldn’t you want to make time to find yourself? If
you’d like to try Zazen, you are very welcome. The Rinsenji Zen
Dojo is open to everybody.

Monday and Wednesday Zen sessions take place on holidays as well.
On Wednesday, the evening session can be joined after the “Kinhin”
at 7:45 pm too.
No previous Zazen experience necessary.
No questions asked about age, nationality, denomination, race etc.
No Japanese language knowledge needed. Many members are from
different countries.
Joining or leaving the Zazen group is possible anytime.
Clothing: subdued colors, comfortable easy-to-sit long pants and
shirt, e.g. jogging wear etc.
Fee: 500 yen for covering running costs. (voluntary)
